In theory it's possible ... I haven't done it and to my knowledge no one else has. Right now we're all working with the same agent. I would imagine as this matures it will somewhat similar to LS. You will need to establish your relationship and reputation within the company. Then as you become familair with where the freight is and the rates, you can keep yourself in a set of lanes.

Got the answer to the lumper quetion ... broker pays them. They have thier own process, submit receipts with scan sheet same as always.

What % does Swift take?? I just cant imagine them letting you use their resources (trailer, authority, etc etc) without taking a chunk.

I was going to bump this thread to see how it is still going with it...but you beat me too it!....so yeah what does swift take or is that a super secret dont ask question...kept between broker and swift or do you get a load sheet that discloses everything as if you were o/op with own authority.....and how is fsc added?....do u see any of that?...

This sounds like a great addition to the mac 30. My only concern is that swift still has its hand in the dispatching. Im thinking it could be a computer based dispatch once the broker sends in the vitals on the load. I mean trying to explain a simple issue with the night shift on a plus1 load right now is a nightmare, try and get them to help out or ask where the dispatch is on an outside broker load... hmmm..nightmare city.
I would love to read more on this, is there a place we can go to research this in depth? -
But just so I would have basis for negoiating, I joined a site truckloadrate ... It gives the high, low and average line haul and FSC on any lane at the zip code level. Near as I can ascertain their data is fairly accurate ...
So far on loads to date, I've been getting about 70% of the average rate inlcuding line haul and FSC ... Not bad considering we won't pay lumpers, Swift will pay our normal detention and we don't pay for base plates or permits.
squeak .. In regard to getting stacked ... that is big 10-4. A day before delivery on a Swift load, got a broker load to Chicago, then said he had freight out of Chicago and booked my next load right then.spectacle13 and SteveH85396 Thank this. -
Didn't happen to me. But there was a need for an MT. Instead of getting an MT for the driver, an ECT planner decided it was easier to void the dispatch, probably with the idea of giving the load to a driver who already had an MT. Such BS shouldn't even happen with normal loads, but the entire world came down on that planner very quickly.blsqueak, SteveH85396 and Zukimart Thank this. -
It's been 5 1/2 months, any news? I found this to be a very interesting read. Hope they keep this for the O/O's L/O's sounds like a great way to stay busy if you can manage your expenses well.

I've done 22 loads to date, rates have ranged from a high of $2.66 to a low of $1.19 - I took that load in order to get out of a dead freight area on the July 4th weekend.
Overall I'm averaging $1.68 for loaded miles and $1.57 for all miles, with 6% empty. This excludes any detention and as the loads are live, I've gotten quite a bit of detention.
For all intents and purposes the program is self dispatch. Other than for pay purposes, Swift is mostly out of the loop - the broker is DM, Planner and CSR - one stop shop to get the load and handle all issues regarding the load.
As an example of the kind of service you get - I had one load where I was on dock for 5 hours and the shipper had yet to start loading me, the broker offered me the option to cancel the load and they would get me another or stay and get detention.Theramsey3 Thanks this.
