I passed through Brooks on Saturday, that sounds pretty accurate. My trainer, who is on Western 11, also got a call today saying that if he wanted miles he should really consider running 48.

What is this vigilante journalism? Please let us all know your sources of information so that we can tell if their factual or not.
You numbers are WAY off.
First 500, not even close who ever told you that lied! They were being nice!
Second you need to stop listening to the speculators at the buffet who talk about BIG COMPANIES getting goverment money to take in the undesirables show me the proof! Also lets just say your 100 percent correct. 90x90 = 8100$ in wages paid out. Did you know the average cost to train a new driver at a trucking company is between 6k - 14k in expenses (hotels, transportation, food, orientation facilitators pay, trainers, etc etc etc)
Not to mention the cargo and accident claims you have to pay out from running a entry level program. May is likely not even breaking even if their getting 15K a student, which their not. The numbers are all public information if you feel like looking up anything I stated. Saying otherwise is just nonsense and lies. Tell us something you do know and not something you heard another driver tell you trucker! -
Most of us have a good week here and there. Problem is, what do you make for an entire year? This is a good thread and tells the truth.. Working for ALL the mega carriers is terrible. Poverty wages. The only way that this business pays reasonably well is only if you work for a smaller carrier or you are an o/o AND your truck is paid for in full. Anybody says anything else is either being less than truthful or in denial. Anybody considering going to work for a large carrier should not pay attention to anything on these posts (including my own 2 cents) and go to any truck stop and personally speak with as many drivers as possible. Ask them about AVERAGE pay and conditions. $30,000 a year is the norm and things dont improve much with experience either.

Wow trucker steve your really misinformed. Ffe told us in the academy (Mr peace-head of training) that they only accepted non cdl holders from the state of tx because of two reasons 1. By tx law you must have a tx residence to qualify for a tx license. 2. They (ffe) qualifies for a 5, 000 dollar grant from the state of tx. To offset there training costs. You really need to do your research throughly. If I must I will put ffes number on here and mr peaces extension if you so request as needed per your request of "show me".
