No insurance or DOT registration (and avoiding the rules) always allows for cheap freight that is hard to compete with.
I think uShip should be investigated - but it probably won't.

Maybe it isn't their responsibility to verify shippers. I don't know as I refuse to ever visit that site.

All we can hope for is some of these clowns get caught (and many do) or the shipper has a claim and gee golly gee the carrier has no coverage. I wonder how that will work out for them?!

I got an ex buddy of mine trying to get into this type of work and thinks he is immune to needing to follow DOT and HOS rules since he is lower gross weight. Yet he is crossing state lines doing inTERstate transport.
I'm not gonna argue with him. Maybe he wont get caught....or maybe he will.

Most don't last long anyway since uship started the safe pay or what ever they called it where the customer pays full up front to uship and only once the shipment is deliver the tsp gets a code from the customer to release the cash.I have heard a lot of tsp having problems with this cause the customer doesn't give the code and tsp has to fight with uship to get paid and when they do release the payment,it can take up to 72 hours to go into your account!I haven't used uhip over 2 years now but I peek in once a while to see what's up and most legal guys I used to see are now gone including me of course but I give up hot shot and got back into trucking, expedited.

It's a TV show. These clowns are for entertainment only. I would trust a load to a truck school wonder before any of them. That clown with the tractor couldn't drive a thirsty dog to water. I have fond laughter for the rest, their just want to be's. I'm Heavy Haul. I got a lot of laughter out of that guy.

I dont know how some of these guys even pay for fuel or anything else. My rig cost me about $1.85 a mile just to cover all operation cost, (im insurance poor) seems like every time i turn around there is a new fee for everything. Thinking about giving it up and staying local.

Not over 10,000 lbs. GVWR is exempt from FMCSR . A local barter site on Facebook had a " professional transporter " bragging about being a shipper listed on UShip . He said he had a pickup and trailer . I looked up his UShip profile and it listed him under 10,000 lbs. GVWR . :yes2557:
I messaged him and asked how he could pull a trailer and be under 10,000 lbs . He responded '89 S 10 pickup with 5x8 trailer . :biggrin_25526:

Anytime you cross state lines with even a u haul trailer and you are pulling freight no matter how much it is or weighs and you are getting paid for it it is concidered commerce and u fall under the dot rules. I pulled my race car from vegas to texas in my pick up with an enclosed trailer and texas dot stopped me and asked me if I was racing for money. Of course I said no and after checking the total weight he let me go but only after saying I know you are racing for money but cant prove it. That would have been commercial use for commerce and I would have had to have all the permits, dot numbers, logs so anyone who thinks just because they are under #10,000 is sadly wrong. RW

Oh let me add one more thing. This has been a battle ongoing with DOT and toterhomes and double stack trailers for racing. The only legal way around it are those words we put on the back of the trailers... Non Commercial Non Commerce they usualy leave us alone when they see that along with the not for hire lettering in the toter.

Hey, Light up America. In the 70's we had no required insurance laws. We had a free country. U-ship is a good thing and all the complaining in the world wont chang a thing. DOT? I used to be a DOT. You keep it clean and safe, That is all there is to it. Illegals bothering you? Not me, our government is welcoming more in everyday. Get over it. Has all this regulation fixed 1 pothole? If a man can buy a toyhauler, travel the country and see his grandchildren. What is wrong with that? You are not competing with me because I don't give a rip about the rate. All I care about is visiting my family. I will haul anything at any price. You don't like it...move to Europe. I hear they have more regulations over there. I hope all you crybabies go broke. This is America Jack and don't you forget it!!

Since you believe it is all okay to run uship illegally just to travel.

What happens when one of you have an accident and hurt or kill someone because you do not adhere to the rules and regulations.

I guess if they were doing it and struck a family member, you would just be okay with it.

Accedents happen insured or not. live with it friend. By the way, what makes you think I am running illegal? I have insurance a decent vehicle and the DOT do not bother me. I do not need much, a lil fuel and I am good. It is all those so called professionals I see tailgating and complainning all the time. Learn how to drive right before you ##### about my safety record.
