As with all the other large carriers, May gets $10,000 from the U.S. government for each vet hired. Regardless if he/she works out or not. Thats the reason why you see the big companies targeting vets. And you forgot to mention that ALL the large carriers are making RECORD profits. More than they have ever done in their operating history. You want proof? Google it. Its all public record.

Wow only a driver for 2 yrs and so knowledgable. NOT! To say dont pAy attention to anything said on this site is to be ignorant of thousands of yrs of experience and knowledge. So sad to see surfer joe that you gain nothing by learning of others experiences. it has taken me yrs to gain the knowledge of the trucking industry secrets when in fact you can learn many ideas an information on this site. What a shame you dont see the benefit of learning from others who came before you. This site is no doubt one of the most beneficial tools a driver can use.

Did you read my post even? I broke down the cost in the bottom section and even stated that 15k would barely allow them to break EVEN I didn't say their are no exceptions yes some states have grants to offset cost (because it is expensive) My reply was about the AMOUNT and the Accuracy of his particular comment. My point was that, MOST DRIVERS who lack real knowledge of the business of trucking think that trucking companies will accept anyone for "grant money" and that is not true at all!

Experience is relative! You can take 2 guys have them travel with the same equipment same load same roads for 50 years long and their going to have had a different experience. Experience is not time, time allows for more experiences to happen. What you choice to learn is up to you. I have know guys who have spent 30 plus years stumbling through the trucking industry. 30 years time don't mean they were doing it right, that just means they %#% stuff up for 30 years and learn little if nothing.

I have meet guys with limited truck driving experience but tons of LIFE EXPERIENCE that where far better DRIVERS becuase even tho they spent less time behind the wheel of a big truck they could apply LIFE EXPERIENCE to apply but more importantly the choice to learn in their experience .

The first part is correct, the schools are targeting vets for this reason NOT THE CARRIERS PERSE. The second part of your comment is not accurate at all. TO say that ALL LARGE CARRIERS are making record profits is like saying ALL MUSLIMS are terrorist that is a ignorant comment!

Many would call drivers who jump job to job, who dont fulfill there contract who get in accidents before the 6 month mark and those that continously add points to there companies csa as underssirable drivers.Hello out of 23 students in my class 17 have left due to being undesirable . All but a few was qualified to obtain grant money from the state of tx. Graduation was the only thing required by the state of tx.......theres your underssirables...

Adolf Hitler convinced millions that a RACE of people should not continue on this planet and they followed suit! Millions listened to him, That still don't make HITLER right does it? to not challenge conventional wisdom or to think for ones self is of no benefit to anyone. Anyone can share all they want, the fact remains that it is his/her opinion, period. MINE INCLUDED . I agree with the poster!
