I am thinking about pulling tanks again, but as an owner operator this time. i have 7 years otr exp. and 1 year of tank experience as a company driver. 6 years as an o/o with vans. I live near Erie PA and have my canadian passport on the way. I am not interested in any mileage pay scams. I only run for %.

i have seen 60-70% but 1 of my questions is 60-70% of what?

Who are the most profitable companies to lease onto?

What are the most profitable lanes?

    DocRox Thanks this.

There a lot of variables to the question that you have asked. You really have not given enough information to post a informed response. Having answers to the following questions will make it easier to give you some ideas.

    1. How far are you willing to travel to get to a terminal location?
    2. Do you have haz-mat or are you willing to get it?
    3. Is there an area or region that you prefer to run?
    4. Is there an area or region that you prefer not to run?
    5. Are you looking to go with a large company or willing to work for a smaller company?
    6. How old is your tractor? (most companies have an age restriction on equipment)
    7. Can you afford to equip your tractor with the necessary equipment to pull tank? Or are you looking for a company that will equip the tractor and do payroll deduction till the equip is paid for?
    8. Do you wish to pull liquid or would you consider pulling dry bulk or cryogenics.
    9. How long will you stay out or do you need or want to be home every weekend.

Answering the above questions will make it easier for anyone to give you some intelligent responses to your question.
Remember any company big or small will have area's that they are stronger in and area's that they are not as strong in.
Do your homework very carefully, what may seem like a great deal at first may have hidden costs that may come back to bite you at a later date.

Anyone that isn't afraid to work can make an good living at Dana, You are paid 60% of what Dana gets paid to haul it+FSC.If someone is looking for a free ride this ain't it.They will expect you to have/be willing to put a compressor on your truck. The most profitable companies are the ones that don't need a lot of trucks, and the most profitable lanes have a line of trucks a mile long waiting for their oppertunity. It is a very competitive field, but if your willing to work there is $ to be made.

1 the distance to a teminal location doesnt matter to me
    2 yes i have hazmat
3 oh//in/il to tx and back is easy. or chicago to toronto/buffalo/erie would be nice
4 i dont like new england or dc/baltimore areas. i will go if it pays right
5 size of the company doesnt matter to me. size of the pay checks do
6 tractor is a 2012 glider kit w/ a pre emissions 12.7 detroit. titled normal as a 2012 truck just not CA legal
7 depends on how good the company is. a pay roll deduction would be nice but not necessary.
    8 doesnt matter. $$$ talks
9 i need to make as much as i can but no forced dispatch. hometime comes after that and i dont have kids.

Any good paying small tank companies out there without satallites or eobr bs? For owner operators, not interested in company gigs

hey mike Miller transporters is decent 63%+100% fsc. they will equip your truck with their pump and air and in-transit heat. just when you leave they take it all back off. no forced dispatch. contract only requires you to pull 1 load a month. if you pull dedicated it pays 67% plus fuel. I have average 2.10 a mile all miles here for this year. I typically stay out 2-3 weeks by my choice. we are just now getting a terminal started out of Pittsburgh and we are slowly building a freight base. only downfall is we do run e-logs and quallcomms. I typically haul 2-3 loads a week and I typically run 21-2200 miles a week
