I have used a barefoot 29 for the last 6 years. If I were to upgrade, I would go with a General HP or a Connex with the 100 watt built in amp. They are nearly identical inside. Ray in West Memphis can make them shout. Francis 5 1/2 ft. antenna. good coax.

Ray in west Memphis sells skip shooter antennas.
I've read good reports on them. I plan on stopping
    there and trying one.

I like the radios I have, Galaxy DX99, Connex 3300fhp, Magnum S6. They all talk great and put out 40-50 watts with stock power cord. All 3 are great radios, I have a Monkey Made MM9 antenna, puck mounted (Breedlove) to the roof of a 379. I chose the Monkey Made because they are reported to be very broad banded antenna, I talk on 27.185 and 26.735.

I have a Stryker 440 and LOVE IT!!! I had a Galaxy before this and really like this radio too. A buddy of mine wanted to buy the Galaxy so I bought the Stryker. Dubs CB Shop in Marshall Il. set me up and it does a great job. Couldn't be happier. But IMO a CB is only as good as the antenna and the tech that sets it up.
