I had asked about the moving industry a while back. I used to drive back 94-96. Seems like that industry died with the rest of the economy. Used to be able to do really well, some of the O/O were grossing near 300,000 before expenses. Not sure if any bedbuggers read this but what is the current line haul share rate? Which are the better paying carriers with the most loads.

I really did enjoy the moving business. It was very hard work with long hours at times. That was all paper logging with the old rules. Used to load 22,000 pounds, work 10-12 hours in the heat and then drive all night. Had fun, made good money and stayed in darn good shape. If you did not like the person you were moving the good thing about it was you only had to be nice for two times pick up and then delivery.

Weaton runs a smaller fleet(obviously), so they would probably be more inclined to treat their drivers better as they cannot afford to run off pvo's like the larger van lines, north amer, atlas. As for linehaul %'s comission contracts seem to run 40% and up but overall they are garbage unless you run regional. And even then.... :biggrin_25510: But for owner op's average % runs 52-54, the accessorials vary widely by company.

    highspeed1972 Thanks this.

Wheaton recently bought Bekins. Unless you have a recent history has a HHG driver, you wont likely find work with Wheatons Headquarters in Indiana. Your best bet would be to find a Wheaton agent that is looking for drivers.
