That about sums it up Rates suck, dot bothers you ten times more often, then you have class 8's trying to get the lite stuff too. After seven years I've seen a bunch come and go.
So think you want to run a hotshot?

Was sitting a truck stop yesterday. A truck pulled in next to me that said, "Safety + Team Work = Success". Three of the eight tires on the trailer were almost bald. And I get pulled aside three times last week!! Ugh!
Much Success!

I had eighteen inspections my first year and don't know how many times bothered just so they could look at this or that.
You have magnetic signs? If you do pulll them off when empty and blow by the scales. I never go through when empty sometimes get besides two or three trucks if there going by scales and pretend they blocked me out. Number one rule avoid scales when you can I get tired of being bothered told more than one police the same. -
I might as well get a big rig then.
My point of going that rout was to not have a commercial truck only but something I can drive anywhere at any time.
And I'm willing to bet that most of those influenced by, and going the "Shipping Wars" rout is not much of a threat and will not be around long.
And I'm wondering at what point is the excessive number of times you are asked to pull in, does it become harassment?
I'd get a magnet and put "Number of times pulled in this week, month, or year plastered on the passenger door.
Also, they used to have windshield stickers that were put on the big rigs that say what quarter of what year you are last inspected in.
Don't they do the same these days, and wouldn't it also apply to the smaller "Hot Shots"?Last edited: Feb 13, 2013

All the stickers on the windshield mean nothing to these morons.
They are only looking to pretend to work and a hotshot is easier than real work. I asked one why he didn't inspect the ten trucks ahead of me since n one had a recent cvsa sticker displayed and I had two? He sent me on my way I told him I was compiling data for a court case involving targeting of hotshots guess he didn't want to participate in it. -
That's a good one!
I'm going to borrow that if you don't mind! -
You only get a sticker for a level 1 . A lot of 1 tons get level 2 checking logs , inspections , and medical cards .

paperwork only is a level three. That's how I won a ticket once officer wrote me a ticket for equipment and wrote a level three report.
I filed a motion to have officer arrested for filing a false report, the officer wouldn't come to court and it got dismissed then I had to threaten suit on data Q's to get it removed there also. did I mention I hate dot police? -
Just starting out... A LOT OF GREAT INFO IN HERE. Thanks!!!
