The Volvo I drove in 2001, if you turned on the cruise, and hit accel, but did not reach in back and hit the on button back there, the truck would die within 10 minutes. That controller back there had to be turned on, so it would take over.
Of course, technology changes rather fast, and I'm sure there are different types of systems to contend with. Just have to figure out which one you have.

Well hopefully that will do it for ya. -
just dealt with this same issue on friday.happened to be in missoula and stopped at the dealer where i had bought my 05 volvo. could not get the icon system to work period!.the mechanic came out and told me that there is a mercury switch under the hood that usually goes bad and that it will keep the system from operating correctly. he bypassed the switch temporarily witha fuse jumper and the system worked! he then asked me if i even wanted the icon system at all,I told him it did not matter one way or the other as i usually just sleep with the truck off. Solution;he pulled the step cover off the side of the truck at the batteries and looked for the fuse that controlled the icon(5 amp)pulled it and VOILA!No more icon, truck idles all the time(total driver control) Was thinking that I will put a switch inline with the fuse and run it up by the icon light to control it if and when I want to sleep warm or cold.So try to do one of these options suited to your preference. It worked for me! joe.

Boys... Just couple weeks ago my old truck got sold out and I've got the "new one"... After 4 night of bad sleep I figured it out... What you need to do is to turn on AC and set the trailer brakes. Works like a charm !!! Good night

Ive seen this issue before, it is usually a faulty clutch pedal switch or brake pedal switch, (2 wire switches with 2-1/2 inch spring lever attached) these switches are mounted pretty loosely on very flimsy brackets above pedals, you can bend them by hand so the switches are in the proper position (closed). If you have good ears you can hear them click into position when bending them back into place. This should fix the idle issue.

Well I'm in a 13 Volvo day an. And I did the turn on CC and pushed resume, and that worked. I know it's a daycab but when you are waiting for a dock on a warm day the A/C is great.
