Swiftys;
I came back to Swift OTR after four years doing something else. The something else wasn't paying the bills. I know other drivers' experiences have varied but Swift has always treated me fairly. So I decided if they would give me the opportunity to get back into trucking, I'd stick with them.
I still feel that way. I'm not going to say anything bad about Swift. But after the holiday rush died down I have found myself sitting as much as running. I've heard the same thing from other drivers in my fleet. Driver leader says freight is S-L-O-W.
So here's my questions: any Swift drivers getting all the freight they can handle? Which fleet do you run for? Are there any openings? Thanks in advance!

Not me.
This week is better because I scored a 1500 mile load to MA that delivers tomorrow, so I still have time to get another 1500+ miles this week.
But my last check was under $300, the one before that less than $100. (after taxes, insurence, child support...) -
Running with my mentor I personally scored 20,854 miles driven in 7 weeks. Made my mentor $7,715 plus what he drove. Seems like a reasonable way to make miles and bank

Remember .. Freight is generally slow in January and February. Come March, it will start picking up again .. It's part of the freight Industry.

depending on how good yer dl is too.. i just scored a 2000mi run up into PA from el paso.
as mentioned, freight is always slow this time of the year. -
It's a matter of knowing where the freight is and have a DM work with you to keep you in the loops ... Last week was slow for me, partly as a matter of choice. But, I've been averaging 2650 a week since Jan 5 up until then. Already have 1100 in the books for this week.

And if we all could get to where the freight is, it would be the same.
100 drivers for 30 loads.
Sometimes you get lucky and get to the right areas as the loads travel, sometimes not.dptrucker, Paloma and NoBluffBuff Thank this. -
You can always join dedicated your Guranteed miles plus stop pay I run Walmart Dedicated and not on fleet but help so I average $1000 to $1200 a week and I only run 2400 to 2800 a week plus about 20stops.
even if you don't live near a dedicated gig they will let you help and if they like u they keep you, I have a planner that doesn't want me to leave and doesn't care I'm on the fleet or not Im a hard runner and I will take what ever they give me and even when Im done with my load I'm back asking if they got anything they need done if I have time left so I think that's why they take care of me.
thats your best bet to make a steady pay check unless you wanna go babysit swifts freight until delivery time .
I know almost every place they run so its nice to be in areas u know keeps me 160miles from home they get me home for some restarts and they deadhead me in after Hometime and we have a drop yard 10miles so I can drop walmart trailer to get home they even offered slip seat near me but pay just isn't even close to what I make running from Dc and u always know we here u will be done unless u got a back haul other wise I'm at dcLast edited: Feb 14, 2013

"Get Dem stickers!" I love hauling for walmart. They take such good care of there drivers both surge and dedicated fleets. It's always a pleasure to work for them.Especially since the different dc's normally have maps to every store and perfect directions.Plus it's great to finish your runs and be able to go shopping
