Where u going down hill? The distance u slid is 12 to 14 truck lenghts I just dont see how u slid no way. I think u saw the accident slowed down and slowed some more but maybe 1 or two truck lengths u thought u were going to he able to stop and u couldnt. If there was a mumble jumble of trucks like u say then u should have stopped turn on your flashers and ##### the situation. Unless u were going down hill. We have all been on ice I just dont buy ur version of it.

Lol, you probably spelled it right. Assess. Did it show up? We are blocked from evaluating a situation hehe. Edit: Most of spelled something wrong because it's showing up for me.

As for you asking about him going downhill, he did say he was going through Elk Mountain. There's only up or down through there mostly and usually the wrecks are on the downside. The western facing sides of the hills especially get iced over through there.

It was mile marker 265. The slightest downhill. Just enough to slide. It was a state citation. $60 fine if I do not fight it.

I would fight this only to try and keep it off my MVR... other than that I would say nothing else except to your attorney.

If 5mph is too fast, then the road should have been closed IMO.
If this is your opinion then you were traveling too fast you just made the states case against you.

Had there been any traction, I would have been able to stop the truck no problem.
The flashing lights didn't indicate something was wrong? Did you have CB? radio advising weather conditions.

Not sure what the cop thinks I could have done.
He may have been thinking that you could have hurt someone by not slowing down sooner...

Everyone else was having problems too.
Did everyone else at the scene hit another vehicle... if you noticed others having trouble then you were somewhat negligent for not anticipating the possible conditions of the road.

I am only giving you possible answers that the state prosecuter will say if you should go to court. This is not meant to bash you at all... I consider it a non event until the cop wrote you the ticket so he must have felt you did something severe enough to write you...

Remember this will pass and you will move on... no worries... but please don't beat yourself up over it by trying to justify what occured... it was a tap....

Like I said, the posted speed was 45, and I was doing under 20 anyway. I saw the scene 1/2 mile early and tried to coast to a stop way early. You could have walked next to my truck up to point of impact. There were about 7 or 8 other trucks up ahead all over the road. Not sure how many others crashed, other than the 2 overturned in the ditch. The other driver was an ex cop, and I think he requested a police report for some reason. The cop said since he had to take a crash report, he felt he had to cite me for something.

Wait one sec... the cop said because he had to write a report he felt he needed to write a citation? and he said that to you?

    Really???

Sorry but the less said the better... really!!
I try and read these posts to educate myself and help others but there are times when I wonder if people just don't recall exactly what happened or if they tend to skew the facts. I am sorry but that really did not happen in my opinion.

I would now change my recommendation from fighting it to pleading guilty... pay the fine and move on... if you get questioned you may end up in more trouble then you bargained for... accusing a cop of wrongdoing is a serious accusation...
