No, I'm going to check them out though.

Container hauler in LaPorte Tx. Advertise good equipment, home nights, weekends off. Claim 50-70K per year average. Sounds far fetched but close to my home. I just retired from AF looking at getting back into driving again.

Ive seen them around in Houston. I don't know why they say new equipment though Ive always seen them in old sleeper cab tractors. Maybe they where owner operators. I was going to apply as well but seeing their tractors made not want too. Ill ask one of their drivers next time I see one. Also I didn't apply because on the wage it said commission based. What does that mean? Do you have to try and sale your load or something?

They don't run sleeper trucks. They have about 45 daycabs, 2011 or newer. Google KPB Landbidge, LaPorte TX. They have a website with info.

Thats why I said it was probably an owner operator and yes I have seen some of thier equipment and it was old. Shoot my jobs website says we have new equipment too but that doesnt mean its true! Out of 80 tractors maybe 10 r new and 20 r in good condition and the rest r fairly decent meaning old and not in good shape.

So has anyone here actually worked for kpb or is currently working there? How is it there? Is the company like it says it is? And the equipment is it really in good shape?

That's what I'd like to know. Their website says "commissioned based" pay. I know these container ports can have extremely long wait times. If you are only getting a percentage of the load, with no detention pay, I don't see how you would make "50-70K" per year, as advertised.

I'm going to check them out. I don't live very far from LaPorte. It looks like they have good equipment.

Just talked to an office person on the phone. KPB pays percentage of load. They do not pay waiting time at the ports. Their drivers are 1099 (contractors). They offer no medical insurance.

No wonder they are always looking for drivers.
