Curious if anyone has first hand knowledge on how deep companies dig into non DOT employment history? I know the feds require companies to look into 10 years of employment history, but to what extent? I have never had a DOT regulated job before, but from 2003-2006 i'm a little fuzzy on some of my employment dates... there was a period of time there where I was laid off and back working again anywhere from 1 week, to 2 months apart (construction industry - union job) until I left the industry in 2007. From there I worked a few odd jobs here and there to make ends meet. At best it would be a guessing game, I could easily be 6 months off on hire dates etc. I don't want it to look like I am trying to hide something when I simply can't remember. I would call them, but a couple of the places I worked for are now out of business, which could also cause a problem with verification. I sent in the required paperwork to social security to get my 10 year employment history, but it is taking forever and I graduate school in two weeks, and would like to get some apps out there soon! Should I just fill em out to the best of my ability and hope for the best? Any advise would be appreciated!

will need to just be close on the dates 03-06, steady employment is going to be main concern right now. Good Luck
-
actually most people are confused by this
new drivers just getting thier CDL only need 3 years of history
without gaps
as in you put in unemployment dates time off to take care of sick mother or in school
professional drivers need 10 years to prove they are not terroists
-
I was wondering about this, some of the applications only have 3 years needed as others ask for the full 10. So if I understand you correctly, as a new driver they will only go back 3 years?
-
That is correct.

Very good, thanks for the info! not too concerned about any inaccuracy from 7-10 years ago then
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Do you have any tax forms from any employers?
-
I should for most, is that something that needs to be provided?
-
Think real hard about the dates. They need to know the months. When you do get those dates places addresses ect,it's wise to write all that down for your personal use.
-
That's the plan, I was hoping to get them BEFORE I started to fill out applications so that I would be 100% on ALL of the dates. I will likely hold out another week and if the paperwork is not here by then i'll just have to be as accurate as my brain allows
