Well one week down with BTC, so far so good! I can't say any thing that has not already been said; they are a good company the owners are very involved, the equipment is 2nd to none, tbey have done every thing they said they would do. Up front and honest no frills or bs. My first load with them pays great and it got me home. So yeah I will update as time goes on and let everyone know how things go...

Just a little update here; well nothing new or real exciting to post. They have got me home every weekend, keep me VERY busy during the week and the pay has been good so far. If you have flat experience I would give them a try, unless something drastic happens I think they are going to be a good company.

Nctrucker,
Was wondering if you could give a little insight to what you have to do once at orientation? I really would like to work for BTC bit worried about the physical testing you have to do. I don't have a problem passing a DOT in fact I just had one done about six months ago. I was wondering if you have to take a agility test or anything like that. I'm not going to BS I'm a big guy, a lot bigger than I should be, but can do some hard work, I just lost a job where I was delivering carpet pad, and tile. I was about three months from having gastric bypass done to help me lose weight, but was canned a week before Christmas. In your opinion based off what I told you could I pass the test and handle the work you do. I don't mind hard work or physical work, spent a lot of this past summer slinging carpet pad in 90+ degree heat. I am hoping BTC opens student program again soon so I can apply. Thanks for any advice you can give me. -
Well as far as handling the work I guess that all depends on you, I have seen little guys, big guys, average guys; the point I am making is doing the work sometimes is a mind over matter type thing. 100 degree August heat or -10 February cold you just have to deal with it. The agility test... it was not to bad. Here is the jest of it; step up and down on a box for 2min following a metronome they check heart rate and it has to be under 150, then you have to bear crawl, walk a strait line, lift a tarp, lift dunage and climb a ladder each one of these is done in a series of 3. I hope this helps, I mean flatbedding is not as bad as some make it out to be but it aint bumping docks and swinging doors either so you have to be willing to deal with the elements. 2 weeks ago 28 degrees, 20 mph wind and side ways snow in Porter IN and I had to tarp outside... stupid right tarp in a snow shower, but that's how it goes sometimes, but I love pulling a flatbed its a challenge and it keeps me on my toes. Anything I can do to help you just ask an I will do what I can hope this helps...Ghost_Rider220 and trucker91 Thank this.

Nc trucker, I see u r from mebane. .im from Burlington, will flatbed be hard on me as far as my age? Im 43 , pretty good shape, retired miitary, not a spring chicken but hey I hold my own. I just got finished training with a mega carrier, I wanna get some experience with my current company then swith over to flatbed. Thank u and I wish u well.
Ghost_Rider220 Thanks this. -
Retired, Im 42 and just got into this last year...I also work for BTC and realy couldnt imagine doing any other type of trucking. I was at 237 pounds when I started with them and got winded alot at first...now throwing chains and tarping and such is just second nature...oh yeah...Im down below 200 now and feeling great. Bottom line, if you recently retired from the military, I fairly sure that you are in much better shape than I was when I started here...I got into to flatbedding to get in shape and stay there.
retired_2009 Thanks this. -
In 3 to 6 months I will swith over to flatbed. .so u like BTC? ..money pretty good? Home Time?
-
As far as if I like it, I have always looked for the last place I planned on working and I beleive I have found it, the money is great in my opinion, well, for company drivers anyway. I usually average between 850 and 1250 a week(thats net). As far as home time, I have been a short haul regional driver for them since August so Im home just about every night and off ALL weekends, but, when I was over the road, I was only out one one weekend only because I requested it...They get you home man.
