I'm retired , so I don't really have a dog in this fight, but It seems to me and a few others that common courtesy and doing whats right by other drivers , has really gone down hill in the last few years. Is it the "new" generation drivers that are the worst...I really don't think so , since there is not a statute of limitations on being an 53645-hole..they've been around since before I started driving. Just wanted a cross-section view from you folks...the Old hands 20years or more, or the newer guys, as well as the newbies just getting their feet wet.....Lets not argue...just see if there is a reason behind it....

I only drove 3 yrs otr, but being part of the older generation I tried to be nice to everyone, but it seems like it is the "Me" thing. I have trucks run me off the road knowing I was right next to their cab, run up on my bumper (within 3 ft) in my car with my wife/baby in it.

Life I think has taken the "got to get there" attitude. I remember turning on the computer and taking a ten minute break while it booted up. Now if it is longer that 10 seconds it is a mortal sin.

    Freight will get there.

I'm finding the newer drivers picked up some bad habits, like cutting back in after passing within a few feet, while it should be at least one truck length. Then slowing down for some unknown reason! I'm thinking these are new drivers as they look to be under 30 most times. Or another is passing a semi, then getting off at the next off ramp.

Tony your right, courtesy has gone out the window.my opinoin is all the negetivety from so many drivers is the biggest reason for this.Im still happy as a driver and love what i do (flatbed and oversize) I realy do believe that folks could just aside that negative stuff they would be happier.only the driver can make things better.

Even four years ago, i noticed more trucks on the road. I'm sitting at a TA in Corning CA on a saturday afternoon. There are about 20 trucks here. This t/s parks about 300 easy. I don't know what's going on. I do know alot of companies gave up on running CA and they now stay back east. I guess all the regs that are in place. Maybe the pay isn't keeping up with the ever increasing standard of living. No Idea.

Well right off hand alot of this has to do with the company a driver works for. I feel E-Logs has some thing to do with it, a drive on the E can't pull over and help another drive for an hour to get going because the E clock is ticking down. And alot of it i just don't know, all i do know is until drivers can sit down and get organized it will only get worse each passing day.

I think you hit another point here with pay, to many folks think it all pays big money as a driver, they seem to forget that it takes time to get to that point which helps lead to the me,me,me part of it all.
