    right now the CSA score is not really looked at be shippers like it is thought to be. Yes it might become an issue down the road but right now there are to many known glitches in the system, unfair scoring systems, and lack of genreal guidelines. To the point the goverment as even admitted it is a faulty system that will require billions in funding to get to a min proper working order. than to add they want to include all driver work history in this new system. I will probly be retire as well as my newphew. The CSA system is a joke and has been a major waste since the idea even came up. That very same system is already in effect. its call your license. you get a ticket you get points. the same dang thing. but the added carrier scoring and comparing to your peirs has failed majorly.

    Good for you for doing your homework BJG,what do those letters mean.Anyway the company you seen with a high CSA score,I would stay away from.Because if that company has the worst scores,well then it's just a matter of time before the CSA hits your CDL.I have 147 points on my csa score and did'nt even know it till Magnum looked it up and could'nt hire me.All points were from my last company.Now im with a much better company and have been for a yr now and I do not have one extra point on my cdl.

    I got a warning violation for a clearance light that was working. Even showed it working to him and he said oh well it's already submitted.

    I was talking to a company's Safety Dept. about CSA scores and at least with them if the driver has a CSA score that has equipment violations on it they are a little forgiving because a driver can only do so much to get a company to fix there equipment, on the other hand if a driver has a lot of violations on the CSA from his or her own actions as in seat belt, speeding, etc.etc. that the driver can control, that is what a company will look at more closely and that is what will get a driver in trouble.

    Thanks for all the feedback.

    BJG = my initials.

    I did a bit more checking into the details of each BASIC. That really does tell a better story about the company.

    HOS and Maintenance violations are the two that scare me the most. If a carrier scores poorly there it would suggest a company culture of running illegal and taking shortcuts with the truck. My instructor emphasized the point that if you drive for a carrier with bad scores, you're already guilty by association. I'd rather not start my career that way.

    CSA is in the same boat as obama care, the national debt, and any goverment run function. its messed up and dont work. Again. the goverment has already stated that the system is in fault and not used properly and that it will take many years to even get it to work in any manner. As it has been stated DOT cops will write anything up for nothing at all. You can get a ticket for a lite out that is working and brighter than all the rest. I had DOT write my truck up for worn out breaks and an oil leak. What was wrong with them, The truck was brand new. not used truck didnt have 100 miles on it. just picked it up from kenworth plant in Florida. Kenworth went to court with me on that one I for the only time in my life had a full team of lawyers backing me. At court i had 5 sitting at the table with me. The cop begged for us to let him leave and have the case dropped. Kenworth was out for that cop and his department. not only did the win they had the entire DOT section suspended and sent back to school for training. So does a CSA score matter. NO your becoming a trucker your guilty of some crime regardless of how good you and your truck are. They will find something if the want to...

    How does a truck driver reduce or remove CSA points from their CDL?
