Hello to everyone on the forum,
Name here is Deane and as the title implies I am from Maine. I will be leaving here as of the first to start mt new life as a trucker with Prime. I am looking forward to being part of an industry that I have admired for such a long time. My father used to drive truck when I was just a youngster hauling chickens for a local poultry company up here and I as I'm sure a lot of you have always loved big trucks. I have heard good and bad about Prime but as I see it I'll never know for sure if I don't see for myself. I've had a lot of jobs in the past that I've enjoyed but the ones I've liked the most have had to do with driving. I have been to every state except Alaska and Hawaii in my travels and I am looking forward to seeing it all over again. I'm currently a Fleet Services Driver for AAA Northern New England and I really like it but it's not what I want to do for a career. I am also a Amateur Radio Operator(HAM Radio) with my Tech License. Don't now how many more of you are HAM's but I'll check in the forum to see if there is a section. Just wanted to say hello to all and look forward to meeting you out on the open road!

Prime is OK. Can you put a HAM Radio in a truck? Saw an airline pilot one time that changed careers to trucking & had a radio he could monitor airline chatter, but couldn't respond. This was years ago. Welcome to OTR trucking. Get on the Questions from New Drivers thread.

In order to use a HAM radio you must be licensed by the FCC which I am so I wouldn't see any issues of putting a HAM radio in a truck right with a CB. Thanks for the welcome Chinatown!

Actually, you can buy combo cb, ham radio, and don't need to get 2 separate radios.
