Hey drivers, quick question from a newbie. As a starter for Central, what type of tractor should I expect? What year/make/model? I heard mostly freightliners and volvos, but I was curious which year and models

Most people start with a 2009-2011 prostar. They have 2012+ cascadias and 2013+ volvos(don't know the make, they all look the same to me). You're gonna start with whatever they have when you upgrade(probably a prostar unless you're lucky). It won't be new, but they only keep trucks for 3.5 years, so it won't be too old either.

D- I like the others am not telling you not to lease. I noticed you want to train if so I feel the need to point out one of the requirements is 6 months of driving with atleast 2 months of winter driving. As you are still training you will only get one month of winter driving in so you will have to wait until December to be eligible for the class, so you are looking at a year before you can get your first student.

Like the others said having a cushion is a huge key to success. I have had $3500weeks but I have also had-$800 weeks so a cushion and budget are huge.

If you really want to lease a used truck pm me and you can take over my lease. I'm looking at a 3rd party lease on a Volvo.

That makes 4 people who lease telling you not to, and not because we washed up. When the people who are succeeding at what many have failed at tell you to slow down its for good reason. It takes a lot to make it in a lease and it just isn't possible right out of training, no matter how much your excrement smells like roses. I put everything into this job; I haven't taken a break or even seen a face I recognize since thanksgiving. I do this by choice and enjoy it, but a lot of people find out this job isn't all its cracked up to be.

I hope I'm not coming off rude, mean or disrespectful, but everyone who bombs on a lease becomes one more person telling everyone it's a scam to take your money and leave you homeless. You'd be better served to take it slow and be sure you can make it before signing on the line.

Both myself and the person who upgraded at the same time as me got '12 Cascadias.

On a side note-- Chicago has quickly become my LEAST favorite place to go. I can wait to get back to WM DC...

Well we are in for some more fun... But hoping not much... We've been SLOWLY loosing coolant... Haven't been able to find a leak... Well now we found it, and are heading to a Freightliner 'service point' (TA)... Wish us luck!!

PS... This last time Klingon was able to remove the radiator cap while the engine was running... No pressure... Mmmm... Not good...

Whats the 20 on some of you trainers out there? Anyone available to train a rookie around the end of march? I go to Altanta on March 18, then shipping out to SLC the week after that. That's what the recruiter said anyway...
