I put Honolulu as a stop on a trip plan recently to see if anyone actually reads them. No comments or questions were forthcoming.

repowered three drivers off really good loads tonight. One gave up more than 2200 miles...GA to ID.
All because they didn't trip plan. Two of the three could have been made if they worked hard. But they didn't and only ran 9 or 10 hrs the first couple days, didn't roll right away when they got the load.
One kept insisting he could make it. 1373 miles due tomorrow evening, and he only had 3 hrs left today he could run.
So we all may joke about them, but trip plans can make or break a load.
Also, two other drivers ended up in deep kimshee because they burned their loads. Again...could have been made, but drivers were inattentive and didn't plan their trips.
Not saying you need to do it as they make you do it in grad fleet, but knowing how hard you need to run, how far each day and where you're going to fuel and stop makes a big difference.
You guys wouldn't believe how many calls I get from drivers that go something like this: "I'm almost out of fuel. What should I do?"
I always go back to the old axiom: If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.TRKRSHONEY and Corporal_Clegg Thank this. -
I joke about it but I do trip plan every load. Can't really live on recap hrs if you don't. Plans are usually dead nuts on target too. That is one area I have always been good at.

"I'm almost out of fuel. What should I do?"
My answer would be:> Pull into the next truck stop and park it, you should find a space next to the ummmm . . fuel islands, that truck is done. We're sending you a new truck that has fuel in the tanks to replace it.
Emul: I don't know how you hold your composure when dealing with idiots.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
