Wonder who came up with that name?
-
shippers/recievers is my guess. basically people who have never driven a truck before. -
If you drive a chicken truck you are a "Poultry Relocation Specialist"
-
I have never seen a big truck loaded with chickens. (I've seen crated chickens piled in stake bodies, tho.) I can't IMAGINE hauling a load of birds... let alone facing the mess they'd make. I've cleaned enough chicken coops to know that it's gotta be nasty...
-
Ducks, a "Chicken Truck" or a "Rooster Cruiser" doesn't actually transport chickens. It is CB slang for a big fast truck with lots of chrome and chicken lights, usually traveling at a high rate of speed.

You are correct, Johnny, however they got that name (moniker, actually) from the actual chicken haulers back in the 70s. You don't see this as much today, but back in the day there were flatbeds with crates of chickens stacked up high and tight. They were among the first drivers to put a bunch of lights on their trucks and were always driving like a bat outta hell. C.W. McCall made a song about one rooster cruiser going over a mountain pass in Colorado. I can't remember the name of it right now though.

Thanks, Scarecrow! I knew there were still chicken haulers around because I think one of our forum members here transports the little cacklers. Since Johnny was referring to "poultry relocation", I overlooked his "chicken trucks" and immediately thought of chicken haulers.
I did not know, though, that chicken haulers were some of the first to deck out their trucks. Guess it makes sense, tho, since they call 'em chicken lights... -
LOL How about "Transportation Relocation Engineer" ?
