I just got a mail from some 'headhunter' for Metropolitan... He sent the benefits and pay sheet... I couldn't believe what I was reading... this is what I sent him back....

"Thanks but no thanks.... I looked at the pay... 1st: a half penny a mile more after 3 years.... If I drive 350 miles I will make $154... and if I drive 450 miles... I will make $166.50... so $12.50 to drive 100 miles in a truck governed at probably 65 mph... that will take 1.75 hours that's $7.15 an hour or 12.5 cents a mile for the last hundred miles... I think somebody other than the driver should be drug tested."

I would never consider this company... I'll go out and panhandle 1st... ^raVen^

i hear you. during orientation the little guy who inherited the place said if you aren't making $850.00 we need to fix that. in 6 months i never saw 850. the first 2 weeks i ran real hot then it dropped off. home the weekend. back in truck monday 0800. get out 1600 at best or tuesday am. i have a hazmat. and still didn't make 850. my dm was new and a kid, who can't find a job in his field from college. the whole bunch is clueless. the women who work there think it is a fashion show. and the men are too busy playing can you top this that they don't do there jobs. i was a computer engineer for 40 years and they treated me like a jerk from the street. drop and hook was hurry up and wait.

its two companies. the drivers hey take care of and the drivers that pick up the garbage. i spent two weeks shy of one year there, the vice president told me if you want to make more money, get more detention time. i stayed for a period of time that they hired 400 or so drivers and never got any respect. they despise minority drivers, nothing you do right gets an ounce of credit. they hide the fact that anthoiny in dispatch was a driver that lost his cdl in a DUI, brian was from TRL-real dump...his wife threw him out,so you had to be miserable with him. they rely on this industry having too many drivers. if people got smart they would avoid this place..but what do i know after 50 weeks there.

The shame of it all was that they used to be a top notch company, I worked there back in the 80's and if I got to sleep for more then 5 hours without them trying to get me to do something more, and I mean more then the 600+ miles a day I had already done, with a few drops/hooks all over the place! I left when I moved out of their work zone but with some of what I saw and heard through the 90's I'm glad I did....It's a shame when good companies go so far downhill...

Little man that inherited company? I have worked here for 20+ years and remember when the "little man" worked here for his father. He is a nice man and very approachable. I think that is what a lot of you are missing on here. I have never had an issue talking with anyone when there was a problem. Maybe it's time to turn the finger on yourself. Trucking isn't easy and if you signed up for it to be an easy living you need to get out. There are ups and downs, good and bad times. If you are smart a save through the good times it makes the harder ones easier to get through. You can complain all you want but when you find a company that treats you right and works with you stay through both times.
