How should days off be counted with Werner.

Honestly, its not Werners fault that he lives that far from the terminal. Home time starts when you hit line 4. Thats the way it is. Dont like it, find a different job.

 

Sounds strange Werner is giving him 5 days off. Most companies don't usually do more than 3-4 in a row.

I hate to say it but your brother is driving for a mega-carrier and is going to have issues like this constantly. I think your brother was a bit naive and got talked into driving for Werner or was maybe told that was his only option. Willing to bet it was a school recruiter that got paid to send him there. I would personally tell your brother to not go back. Stay home! There are some really excellent companies down here in Florida that have good home time and you will make a hell of a lot more money then werner! Werner and the other mega-carriers just utilize new drivers who don't know any better for cheap labor. They use them till they burn out and replace them with other new drivers so that they don't have to pay anything to haul their freight. Sit down and have a talk with your brother before his record gets tarnished from working for Werner and he can't get a job anywhere else.

Yep, on duty. Seems like the real work starts as soon as I get home.

 

So...what you're saying is on duty not driving counts as home time??....I'd thought that home time was off duty, so in essence he's not officially on hometime till he arrives at home.

I know. Sorry. Just came off driving for 25 hours in 1 day, I was tired. Line 1

 

If you're driving 25 hours in a day, you may wanna make sure you know which lines are what when you FIX your book

 

to me it sounds like he got a good amount of time off under their ruleset (infact they were generous, some would count that as 5 if not 6 days off), if he wants more "quality" time off under better circumstances he will either be waiting for a dedicated account or switching to a company with a yard near his house or joining a local company.

the company having a yard near the house is one of the most important factors when youre looking at which company to join...well, for me it is anyway.

 

Or bring the truck home! That way there is less chance that someone else will be driving it when you return...
