3%. The maximum number of truck drivers that can ever agree on any one thing at one time, such as if the sky is clear or partly cloudy.

 

Just doin' what I do best.

 

For every 1 hour of driving time, 3 percent of that would be 3 minutes. So if you driver 10 hours a day you would have 30 minutes idle time. That's how these companies figure the idle time.

 

60 minutes in an hour.

60*.03 = 1.8

1.8 minutes is 3% of 60 minutes.

18 minutes on a 10 hour day.

Those that say "What's 50 bucks a night in fuel to the company?" 50 a night and assume 5 days a week (we all know it's not that) - that's 12,000 a year in fuel - per truck. Each truck. I can understand real quick why it receives a lot of attention.

A bunk heater is the way to go, not idling.

 

This is what makes trucking so difficult. These companies only implement these nazi policies because they can still find enough dummies to work for them. DO NOT work for companies like this. If they couldn't get drivers, they would change their ways.

 

But do they differentiate short idle and long idle? If so are they weighted? Does it work based off of the ECM? What if there was a GPS failure and it couldn't track your odometer miles? Does off duty PC play a factor in this?
