Just a rumor. New hires, since August of 2012, must get EOBRs and any older BCOs that are piling up lo violations. For the rest of us they are voluntary. Still in the area of 8000 trucks, as we have been for years.

Official count as of last week was near 8,700. Recruitment is up 17% since EOBR implementation.

Do YOU know what double brokering is? Im dealing with a carrier now as I type this that has the load I brokered to Landstar, just to have them double broker to him. L/S is by far the BIGGEST offender when it comes to double brokering. I will never understand in all of my years why anyone leases on to these companies like Landstar or Universal and all of their companies. Where's the business sense?

Just popping in to say, yes, LS does double broker freight. I've pulled a few loads double brokered by them.

I understand that the load board is simply a stepping stone. Its a good place to find a load just in case, but the way to make money is by having several good agents who know you are dependable.

I am almost set to start orientation within the next 2 weeks. I have been working the intermodal rail for 2 years.
My truck (my first) is a 2001 with Detroit 60 with over a million miles. Got most of the bugs out. Think it's ready for the road. I get usually 7 mpg respectively. Motor never been touched except for what is called an overhead earlier this year. Oil sample is perfect! Replaced the radiator before Christmas. Runs good but head started leaking coolant on the outside. (very small leak) Truck is paid for! I have put over 12 grand in it the last 2 years. I have an estimate to do an inframe for 12 grand. Hoping to get thru the summer before having it done. If I have it done at all. My thinking was to avoid a truck payment, and just keep repairing as necessary. Is this a good philosophy? I hate debt of any kind. Everything is a gamble. Like to make wise decisions.
I've replaced so much, looking at doing the axles after the engine. (replacing inner gears myself). As you now, the process never ends. Love trucking, and being out there In the free market competing with all of you
I respect you guys who have been successful. Your pain is our gain. Thanks for sharing.

    CarolinaTrucka Thanks this.
