That is cool to know. I read the thread that you all wrote about your experience. It was really good and very informative.

Hi. I've been with USX for 7 months now and overall it's been a positive experience. To answer your questions:
1. The trucks are assigned until you need to take more than 4 days off. I just had my truck taken from me when I went home for dental work and it was going to take another appt to get done. It was only going to be 5 days which hasn't been a problem in the past. But according to my FM the new rule is 4 days unless you get prior approval.
2. The sleeper sizes vary depending on the truck. I don't know the actual dimensions. They have a bunch of Petes and some Internationals that have only 1 bunk and they are significantly smaller than the double bunk trucks. They have a few KW "anteaters" as well. The cab is smaller than most but the sleeper area is pretty roomy. In my opinion the Freightliner is the best of the trucks. It has the most room up front and in the sleeper. The storage setup is better than the Petes and the KWs. The 2-bunk Internationals are setup pretty nice but they don't hold the road as well as the Freightliners. Hope this helps.
3. They will honor your request to not be teamed with a driver of the opposite sex. In orientation you fill out a form that indicates your consent or non-consent. For guys its not much of an issue as there are plenty of male drivers and trainers out there. For a female it would mean you'd have to wait a bit longer to get rolling.
In my opinion USX is the better of the "Big 5" that take recent CDL graduates. My only complaint is the condition of the trailers and the lack of trailers. I've lost more time tracking down an empty or dealing with a trailer issue than on anything else. Some of the terminals have trailer inspection bays you have to run through when you come in so hopefully the maintenance issues are getting straightened out. I've run both team and solo with them. I've had a couple of good FMs (Fleet Manager) and one not so good. Team miles were consistently good. Solo miles got a little thin around Christmas but they've been slowly picking up over the last month or so. I'm pretty bummed about losing my truck. It was a 2011 Freightliner standard transmission. But policy is policy.
Hope I've helped some. Feel free to PM if you have any other questions. -
I know of at least one person who completed orientation and was hired but was not able to start right away. He came on board about a month later. He too had family issues to attend to.

Some of the 2 lanes in Arkansas, are really winding, as well as up and down a lot. I pulled my pontoon through Hwy. 125 and route 7. Swore I saw my own tail lights a few times. Can't imagine what it's like in a big truck, but I'll find out!
