I've been driving for PAM for going on two years now. Overall, I think it's a good company. But, I'm thinking about buying a truck and going O/O, but still working for PAM. Does anyone know about what PAM offers O/Os or who'd I'd need to speak to in the company about learning more about this?

Whats PAMela's Fuel Surcharge? I spoke with an owner op once in Ohio who was grandfathered in from a company PAM bought out and wasn't happy about the fuel costs, but I don't know too much about it to say

Having left 2 years ago, the only thing I know about the O/O's at PAM is that I see a hell of a lot more of them than when I was there. It's kinda like they WANT O/O's, and just treat their company drivers like temps or part time employees...

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I'm thinking about buying a truck.

But, the O/Os I've spoken with seem to like PAM's deal. But, it sounds to me like I could make about as much money if I started training new drivers again. I could keep my 401K and health insurance (PAM's health insurance is very good). When you start getting older, that stuff becomes important.

Yeah, that's one of the drawbacks about owning your own rig...you're responsible for finding your own insurance. I've been thinking about getting my own too recently. It's not an easy decision to make.

Been O/O with PAM only 3 weeks and I like it.
    Pay .90 cpm
    FSC .44 cpm (last week)
Plus they give a 5% discount on fuel through their comdata card.
    Dedicated lanes.
    Off Every Sunday.
