From a past Operation Manager's viewpoint: When I skim over applications, many times seeing a felony on your record, that application gets thrown to the side. However if there was an anotation or something that said please read page 2 for explanation, I would read it. Maybe it is curiosityor whatever. The point is many times your application is just thrown to the side. You should sit down and write honestly what your charges were and that you are trying very hard to turn things around for yourself. Attach this with any application you fill out. Do this in as few words as possible but make sure you get your heartfelt feelings about what a great asset you could be to their company as you are making a better life for yourself.
First impressions without explanation for me was, I don't have time to call you and ask about you conviction or are you thinking you really need to get your life in order. I have a stack of applications to go through and yours did not stick out in my mind. With an explanation, yours may be the application that stuck in my mind the most.Good Luck!

Sent a PM about a job possibility.

If that possession charge was MJ, isn't that legal there now? Otherwise, lie. Half these places don't have the cash to spend on background checks and since they're turning you down anyway, nothing to lose.

Keep on looking.Companies are very unforgiving on your past record. Some of these recruiters would love to hire ppl that changed their life around. But all they see is the yr and can't bend the rules for anybody.

See what Grain Hopper co's are out there especially in Eastern Oregon. They might be able to overlook your record and train you. Good luck in your endeavors.
