Everytime i pull up to my 1997 Freighline Classic i want to hug and kiss this machine. When i look at my bank account i want to hump this machine......
It has a detroit 60 series with 1.5 million and no rebuild.Needless to say it has made me much much money and i feel like Donald Trump these days..It has been overall THE best truck i have ever owned. It is very roomy and rides pretty decent for a classic.Parts are cheap and i still get about 6.4 MPG if i keep my foot out of it.
I have decided to keep this truck and go forward with the ''rebuild''.I hope to have this truck lead me into retirement.I hope to god i can get another 10 years out of her.
I hate to sound like a wierdo, but i love this truck and all it has brought my life.It paid for my home,my health and my Mint Harley. It even pays for my Health Care Ins.My maint account is up over 80,000 and it just keeps growing...If i ever sell(NOT) i will buy a FLD Condo or a Classic with a DETRIOT Pre EGR 60...Again this is IMO....![]()
Why would you buy a kenworth over a freightliner?

Easy answer.....resale!

-
From what guys tell me the ''resale'' days are long gone..Again i could be way off here... -
Just to play devils advocate, why worry about the resale if it is making you money? When I buy a truck, my plans are to run it until is isn't profitable to run it any longer. If I spend more on repairs this year than I made in profits, it is time for a new truck. If I made profits that cover my life style, the truck is good to keep pounding miles.
rogueunh Thanks this. -
^^^^ Says the guy with 4 years experience....
Put a couple million more miles in behind the wheel, buy 10 more trucks in the next 20 years, and more importantly try SELLING one of those fruitshakers.
You will understand. -
I like 3.55 or 3.73 with tall rubber for oilfield work either in 11x22.5 or low pro 24.5 or 11x24.5 working oilfield better off with a mid roof or flattop truck. Got a lot of cables and other things around drill rigs lower profile roof make easier to get around freightliner classic midroof with 60 series det and 13spd be awesome setup no air front axles give u nothing but problems in dirt. Kw would be okay but it better have ag400 suspension or be getting stuck a lot ag 380 don't have enough travel. Reason for classic easier to work and them columbias don't hold together to we'll in the dirt.

Plus forgot to mention most classics freightliners with tanks up front have a lot of clearance no steps or stuff to get hung up on. Loved my classic in oilfield truck did awesome job wouldn't even think about taking my w9ool out sits too low. Try to stay away from the condos. You won't like them in oilfield friend had a condo classic and had a hard time around drill rigs and watched one knuckle head clip guide wire with his condo freightliner tool boss was really pissed off at him kicked him off site. Lol what they asking for these trucks must be cheap don't need much for oil work just reliability.

freightline also made a factory 84 in bunk with the works.
And Kenworth's 86" studio sleeper is still bigger, so who cares?
Ask any woman how much difference 2" makes.( sorry sometimes I can't help myself)

Yea, but we're talking about trucks, not the human anatomy. Lol
