There may be issues, BUT I fail to see how the DEF system would affect fuel injectors, the DEF is an after treatment system way downstream, maybe the urea system is bad or a bad sensor someplace in the exhaust system, BUT fuel injectors would seem to be unrelated OR just throwing parts at a problem caused by something else?

Didn't say it caused issues with the injectors.

They seem to have both a DEF AND an injector issue in the newer engines. Neither one is inexpensive when the warranty is gone.

I'm basing this off a fleet of several hundred new Detroits. Any given day I have 10 to 15 of them down and 90% of the time it's DEF related, 10% of the time it's injectors.

One unit with less than 90k on it needed a one box already. That's 10,000 in parts alone, not counting the 30 hours of time to get to the point where they're pulling the box.

    Non warranty - that's a 13,000 repair.

My apologies, I misread your earlier post explaining the issue, two separate issues, still sounds like a lot of failures!

    No worries.

I just pay attention to the bills I have and do not have to pay. I hate surprises and the last thing I need is a busted budget.

Yeah I was not meaning the Urea has anything to do with the fuel lines, I am well aware that is after treatment. My comment was merely stating that there are issues with corrosion, injectors and egr; not anyone item causing another to fail but rather the sum of the failures. I am just not to keen on the new engines at the moment. I would probably do a glider and steer clear of Cali. I like the older trucks more than the newer ones and at least with a glider, I am essentially getting everything new. So I will have to ponder it of course as I alwasy over think anything before I jump...lol

Schneider was a big buyer of the glider. But since has stopped buying them because of those pesky new emissions laws popping up in 2014.

If you have a '98 to '03 engine in that glider you are one stop away from a shut down. January 2014 your '04 to '06 engine is on the list... If you have a pre '04 or old mechanical motor you're good till 2015 then what?

"The rule has been pushed"??? LOL. Yeah tell ARB 'cause they haven't gotten that message. I've spent a few thousand dollars and at least 50 hours of my life in the past year only to have my lawyers tell me its a done deal. What do you know that I don't? Believe me I dont believe its legal, fair, or enforceable but I'll let you be the guy who shows CARB how it really works out here in the real world.

NO NO NO.... It does not matter where you're from, it matters where you are driving.
