I doubt this is over as far as the blame and money goes. In 1994 my parents were involved in a fatal crash, my Dad pulled out and got T-boned, dead at the scene and my Mother was in bad shape but survived. Knowing what happened, I figured he was 100% at fault. The insurance companies went to court and my Dad was found to be 60% and the other driver 40%. Much like in the OP case, the courts found some fault with the other driven EVEN though the accident would of never happened if my Dad didn't pull in front of the other vehicle. The insurance investigation found that the other driver was estimated to be doing about 20 over the posted speed (a 35 MPH zone). This of course contributed to the crash and possibly the fatality.

I only relate this to show that a fatal accident and all the investigation and insurance company battles are probably far from over, I have even seen cases here in Oregon where after many months one or both drivers get brought up on criminal charges, not trying to scare the OP, BUT I am finding it hard to believe that a fatal accident is over and ancient history at four months old with only a failure too yield citation.

None of this brings back a life OR helps you get a driving job, and I tend to agree with most of the other responses that it will be hard. What does your own personal insurance company have to say now about insuring you? Unfortunately you have become a liability to anybody trying to insure you...

The OP asked for advice, not to be convicted here on TTR.

It could happen to any of us.I have had many close calls over the years.
The main thing is he is willing to work and feed his family. His Wife and kids should not suffer over an accident.

All i can tell him is to keep looking at small Mom and Pop type outfits......they may give him a chance.

Right EZmoney, But what I can't figure out is why the company that the OP worked for didn't make sure he had a really good representation. Maybe they did and it was obvious that the OP was at fault...we won't know of course but, he still is gonna have a hard time finding work at a "good" company.

All I see is an OP that wants to put blame anywhere, but where it directly belongs. On himself. Regardless of whether the driver of the van had a seat-belt on, came over a hill without slowing etc., YOU pulled out in front of him..and killed them. Do I make mistakes ? Sure. I just don't kill people because of them. Your alive. Your victim is NOT. Big difference.

How many of us have pulled out without seeing a 4 wheeler flying around a curve or over a hill because they were not visible at that moment?
I know i have and most any driver has too.

It is not like the OP wanted this to happen.......that is why they call them accidents. Some can be avoided for sure but some not!
This is a dangerous line of work and things happen beyond our control sometimes.

I know a driver who was involved in a similar scenario.
A car came around a curve hauling butt right as he crossed the road.He did not see them nor did they see the truck.
Killed 4 people in the car.
The car was driving too fast for conditions on a curvy 2 lane road.

That driver was shook up bad for over a year but is now back driving.
These 4 wheelers need education to stop doing the stupid crap we all see every day!

Not taking sides because none of us know all the facts but it just rubs me wrong all these "perfect" drivers are dropping the hammer on the OP.
