Did he really wait to call police until he was in the parking lot? There's very little sound than his engine, signals, or horn before that.
Good thing he had a camera.
My friend had a similar situation happen on I-70 near St. Louis. Car changed lanes into him, and then bounced to the shoulder. He pulled over, the car kept right on going as if nothing happened. Called the cops, they showed up and said it was probably a stolen car, no tags, etc and that's why they ran. Never did catch them, but he did get to pay the deductible.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
Makes me want a dash cam. I don't know how many times a week I get a feeling this is about to happen!

Dash cams are becoming the "saver" for most truck drivers today...
I am looking into one for my job also, since my license (and lack of points) is my life - job, and income -
I would have called the police as soon as he didnt attempt to stop (slow down throw his hazards on etc etc)
-
i still cannot see me chasing a car down the road, firstly, i doubt if i am going to keep up with him, secondly, who knows what the "LEO" is going to write in his report, whether i was following too close or otherwise
yes, the dashcam helped in this situation, but if it wasnt there, i would have just keep moving, fixed the bumper at a later date, if it was even damaged -
Yeah I would have called the police a bit sooner. Especially since he has the dash cam.

I now have a dashcam in the truck and it seems that all the crazy stuff stops happening once you put it in. It will be an ### saver once you are in an incident.

Having a headset and being a company driver I would have called the popo and saftey department. If it was my truck I wouldn't get excited about it and just fix it later. Minor things like that are not worth reporting, when both parties agree of course.

First of all, he was in the wrong lane to be making that left hand turn at 1:40...Improper lane use.
Then there was the wreck which although it wasn't his fault, he didn't stop either. Since the other party also fled the scene, I won't really hold that against him.
Next, he blew through the red light when making his right hand turn at 4:15...Failure to Stop.
And then, he put the truck in reverse and started backing up in traffic at 4:45...Unsafe Backing.
MORE unsafe backing (as traffic was coming around him) at 6:30-6:45...Unsafe Backing.
With the dash cam, he should have stopped. The cops could have got the vehicle description and plate # off the video and the driver should have just let the cops do their job to track it down...no need to risk lives driving like a knucklehead giving chase to someone you obviously don't have the capability to keep up if they really don't want you to catch them.
If that were my driver and I saw that video, he wouldn't be working for me anymore.allniter Thanks this.
