I figured out stressing to death sitting in my living room running a business on the net for pocket change was way worse than driving around the country risking your life and losing your friends and family while some 19yo ####### controlled my life.

Well, this thread sort of degenerated. But I'm really interested in people's explanation of what gave them the impetus to make this their means of earning a living. I hope more of you speak up...

I started doing it because, believe it or not, it pays more than the job I had before and I like driving.

My reason: Because I love to drive and there is no decent work in my area.

I'm not quite sure how you mean that... But yes, you can be a trucker or anything else in life and still have class. You can also do anything else and NOT have class. I'm going to insist on taking your comments in that context. Forgive me if you meant some other way.

I am a poor college student with nothing in my name aside from my truck. When you need cash you will draw upon whatever resources you have. My scheduling does not work out for most traditional jobs like retail, and neither does the cash I bring in. Plus, i always enjoyed sight seeing and driving in general.

I'm not a trucker and I don't play one on TV, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but that doesn't sound like a good combination.

The thing about hot shotting in particular, is that it is your flexibility and immediate response at almost any time is how and why you can earn money. As long as you're a student, you're probably better off finding someone who'll hire you by the hour in a schedule that fits around your classes (and future schedule changes) and allows you enough time for study, etc.

I wish you luck, whatever you try to do.
