During safety videos made a comment about jumping out of a trailor, 'you'd blow out your knee Paul'. When we were setting up for orientation (in the human resource office no less) he made a comment about the chairs and me. When doing cargo securment he asked me to not crawl over the freight because it was greasy, and I was big, then the next day he says his decision was based on that. I replied 'You asked me not to, so I didn't, it wasn't that tight of a space'. Meanwhile the other person, a lady who HAS experience and smelled like the tide was out stays on.
Now granted first I strugled with the wood blocks and nailing them in because I haven't swung a hammer in years and never into wood with the hardness of a baseball bat, but eventually found my stroke on the third one, but apparently that's not good enough. We live and learn. I have another interview today at 3pm, and I've learned don't get excited.
Weird thing is he presented himself as this tough guy who wouldn't look me in the eye the whole time he was telling me this. And yes I am a large man, 6'1 or so sitting at 350 (was 409 in Oct), so yeah I get it.

The person you are interviewing with might have allergies that the cologne could trigger. They could just not like it or it could be the same scent there X that left her for her younger sister wore. Any of these wont score you any good point in the interview process. It's best to just put on the deodorant and not worry with the Old Spice.

That was very unprofessional of him. And for record I jump out of of trailers and I'm 6 foot 310 lbs. Never blew out a knee lol. How did you lose the 59 lbs?

Put down the fast food, and if I drink a soda I put down the DIET soda (makes me ravenous) and grabbed a regular one if need be. Excercise not too much, just walking mostly. Miss weight training though, thinking of adding that.

In positive news have another interview next tues, see how it goes I am not getting excited like last time.

Well, got on with a local terminal with Greatwide, formerly An-Cam. Did orientation monday and tuesday. Smith training and a safety meeting wed. Went out with a trainer on Thurs. Local driver, observed, learned PeopleNet and paperwork. Drove my first load today. Went well till we got back to the yard and I got a lil snappy and frustrated. Trainer (mutual friend of one of my best friends actually), pointed out what I did wrong, and tole me to keep my chin up.

For some reason, on my road test I mananged a coupling, uncoupling, and a blindside all of which I didn't do in school (strange I know), did well on. One thing I still struggle with is getting straight in a parking lot and doing a line back. Apparently I don't turn sharp enough.

    Will get this.

Jump out of trailers? You are never supposed to jump out of a trailer. A lot of companies have policies against such things, I was with a company that is they saw you jumping out of/off of a trailer you would be getting a call from safety.

I have an issue with blood pressure during physicals. I don't normally have high blood pressure. When I check it at home it is always fine. At a doctors office it is always high (I hate going to the doctor). At my last physical my first BP check was 157/98. I have to sit, close my eyes, and picture myself out in the river fishing on a nice summer day, keep my eyes closed, and that check had me at 124/82.

Thats almost Zen like control. Good technique. And Ive never jumped out of a trailer, I wouldnt because I don't like a rolled ankle or worse.
