I always tried to stay in the FMF and away from support service battalions, plenty of time with grunts and made many friends. First reup was done under 1/9 Battalion flag pole in front of everyone.

I got plenty of free drinks at the NCO club that night, next day mount mother and 90 pounds in the sack.

Talk about sucked in and stupid on my part.

    Oh oh.
Never did that myself, as I always, from the first load, got into a "system" of breaking down etc. Know plenty of guys, and not all rookies, that have done the same though.
    My way..
Drop trailer, pull airlines and electrical, undo horse shoes, hook to neck, put block under neck, pull pin, pull away.
When reattaching, I always put the air and electrical lines back first, then crawl under the neck and do the horseshoes.
Always worked for me, but there must be 10 different ways of doing it "right", just find one you are happy with and make sure you do the same thing everytime.
That is with a mechanical neck obviously.

I learned the hard way to drop and clear all lines, check yourself and same as hooking back up.

I ran lots of local moves and did maybe up to 6 machines a day, plenty times to screw up and it made me learn my own system

    AZS Thanks this.

I heard that engineers could wreck the inside of an anvil. Is this true? If so how so?

Don't feel bad, I had the pin go over the 5th wheel when backing under the neck once at a trade show after delivering. Riggers made me there for a few hours till they came and picked up the neck so I could get back out from it

I have not pulled them off yet. Only pulled an RGN a few times though. I have my step by step process that I do every time. First thing is unhook the air/electric and the last thing is hook them back up. I am always double checking everything too. I have been told almost everybody does it once.
