Be ready for it, that's what they do... by any means necessary to get freight moved

yes i am aware of this. I have just been scratching my head over this. Tim seems like a decent guy. But is a recruiter. I am making the right decision? My biggest thing is this. I refuse to do OTR i have been there and done that not going to bother again. Will i be home every weekend as promised? Or is it going to be "hey we told you home weekends but really we are going to put you OTR". Wont do OTR wont do a crap truck either. I put my time in. I paid my dues. Over and Over. I am not going to ##### every second. But i DO want a good truck. SMOKE FREE. GOOD TRUCK SMOKE FREE,HOME WEEKENDS AS PROMISED. decent money. I will be a lifer. Anything less. Im gone

No you will get home...Tim is actually the safety guy more than he is a recruiter...I get home every week...and have been home every weekend since the new year together...you might have to spend a couple extra days (2 or 3) out but this can be due to weather or other unforseen problems...(hey #### happens)...but I assure you that you will be only out for a week at a time...cause the loads we run just can't be done with recap......as far as smoke free...well its hit or miss on that...all the trucks are in excellent shape......I have an 07 t660 (im 6'2 and 320 too and yeah it can be tight but I don't live in it so I do not care)...my truck has only had a couple problems other than flat tires and they get fixed ASAP there is no trying to find it cheaper here.... money is good here...we are not forced dispatched so you can turn down a load...but I have only turned down a couple since I started just due to time constraints....VW has got me home when I needed too, I am going thru a nasty nasty divorce and have taken time off for it since I have to commute to wisconsin for it...they also let me have a week off to move the rest of my crap from Florida....hell I even got the week of Christmas off cause I had the kids...(had one minor snafu getting home but it was resloved and the cause was a blizzard that shut down 80)you just have to give them a little heads up and not drop it on them last minute.....

As far as getting put in someone else's truck...well that happens if your truck has to go to the shop for a couple days for the big problems.....I know my trucks been borrowed from time to time when I am at home due to the fact that I park it at the shop in Sheldon when I go home...... I came from a big company and it was a bit of adjustment for me...I had to get used to running more miles here than what I ran @Roehl but it was an overall easy transition...I just sometimes ##### and moan on here...but its not really VWs fault.....more often than not its shippers and recievers that are being a pain in the butt...or its just me being cranky cause something didn't pan out the way I wanted it to......but overall I am happy here and plan on not leaving this company unless something changes in my life where I can't work as a driver anymore...

I have one of the last old ones(got 462k on her so yeah could be a 10... yep its a 10 just looked at the data plate)...I could be wrong on the year(probablly am)......I am terrible with remembering numbers.......hell I don't really care what year it is...as long as it passes inspection and runs...which mine has performed admirbly only broke down on the road once and was up an running in a couple hours..(bad sensor)...most if not all our mechanical problems are due to the electronic POS engines cummins has....and its not even mechanical...its usually sensor related...or aftertreatment related...mechanically the engines are decent just all the electronics suck ###....but we are dropping big red engines in favor of the volvos like a bad habit right now...

The Volvo I-shift is the same as the Mack m-Drive, which I drove for the past 6 months. It's a great auto transmission. It skips gears as needed, and shifts nearly as smooth as a 4 wheeler. It's NOTHING like Eaton's crappy Ultrashift.
