they never seemed to care that EVERY fuel stop I ever had was incorporated into my pretrip....oh and the guy did me one favor, he kept me in my great truck even when i went shortline...I dont miss loose leaf though.

So who was it? Not Rick the *ick.
-
seriously, this was only a matter of time
im hearing upwords to $2.2mil anyone els hear that ? -
I'm getting a bit confused after reading this thread. So, basically, W/S had trouble with log violations, so now they are being fined 2 million and there will be e-logs ultimately because of it?
-
I really doubt they got fined $2 million . That is probably the exaggerated cost of installing EOBR's . XRS has EOBR's that have a fee of $35 a month with no upfront or equipment costs .
They won't stop cheating entirely . Drivers can still log part of their unloading time in the sleeper . What will hurt them is they can't stop the 14 hours except by being at a customer and the beginning or end of a day and unload while still logging sleeper after spending the night there . -
I haven't heard a number on fines, I'm sure they are going to be fairly large. What happened is the safety director was not auditing logs the way he was supposed to. So now they fired him and are auditing every single drivers logs looking for mistakes. I don't know if we really will be on elogs before long , but that's what I'm hearing from a couple friends in the office.
Either way it won't matter much to me, I prefer running paper but I do it legally so I'm not scared of elogs. -
They aren't looking for "mistakes " . They are looking for deliberate falsification .

There is a HUGE difference between "Creative writing", and "fiction". being creative is stopping at 2:50, Logging it as off duty at 2:45, and hitting the road after a bathroom break at 2:55:, while logging it as 3:00....... creative, but legal, and nets you a few extra minutes of driving.
"Fiction", is saying you stopped for 30 minutes, or such... and it amazes me how many people are guilty of this. Seriously.....fuel stops logged at the wrong time? the TIME is ON the $#@&ing recipt!!!! it aint rocket surgery, but when your paycheck depends on movement, some people will go to absurd lengths to keep moving...
::shrug:: Well, I aint worried about myself. I DON'T write fiction. But I know a couple of people who are sweating a whole heck of a lot right now. -
Even without the receipt the auditor can go to the fuel card billing for times . Some drivers just divide their total miles at the end of the day and divide it by 60 to calculate driving time . Big mistake . Auditors use Promiles software to calculate drive time between duty status changes .

Yep. I make sure my log is updated as I go. I figure I have made mistakes because i aint perfect, but....... Mistakes get you in trouble. Falsification gets you fired or worse.
