Follow this link http://www.petition2congress.com/4144/practical-miles/ and lets try and make Practical Miles the Industry Standard for OTR (over the road) drivers to be paid fairly.
I for one am tired of GIVING these carriers hours of my time! Let us try and change it; we can't complain about it if we don't make an attempt to change it! GO FOR IT!!!

Heck with practical miles, pay us hourly and/or OT for hrs over 40 like non trucking jobs. How much ivory are you losing a week getting paid household movers miles?Companies will stop at nothing to keep drivers on the lowest pay scale there is and not getting paid for ALL MILES.I'll check out more on your petition.

I would like to see the exemption for OT removed for trucking and agriculture...snafu and classic_150 Thank this.

My drivers would bi*tch if I paid them practical miles, as they would lose money, we have ALWAYS paid hub miles, even if out of route or to their house.
Bluestraveler, Hardlyevr, SheepDog and 1 other person Thank this. -
Hub miles are a rare creature, and hourly pay is a different world. This a referring to Practical vs Short miles, nothing more, I apologize for not spelling it out!

There is one possible solution to the mileage problem. Get rid of the mileage pay and start paying drivers by the trip or load. Regardless of how long or or how short the trip is, the drivers would be paid either a percentage or a set amount of money. This could possibly eliminate "shortages" and "underpayments" in the drivers' paychecks.SheepDog Thanks this.

i get paid hubmiles anything less is stealing
SheepDog Thanks this. -
i agree 100%
we give them "two or three" free hours
we give them 5% - 10% free mileage AND WE GET PAID BY THE MILE!!!
in this day of google maps, its pretty clear to see exactly how many miles (using a logical truck route) from point A to B without short cuts thru backyards and cornfields that no driver would ever take
what do i do?pete1 Thanks this. -
hub if you go out of route, or go to a truckstop, or even make a mistake and have to drive a few miles to get back?
we dont need hub miles, just plot the course and pay the manOtatKen Thanks this. -
Would be nice when the company wants to have you go out of route and use a special fuel stop.NavigatorWife and SheepDog Thank this.
