Did said Garbage truck have a rotating yellow safety becon and 4 ways operating? That's the way they do it around here. Kind of hard to see when driving a right sided truck in a left handed country. But when it's all said and done...........you will take the blame for the accident. I feel sorry for everyone involved. You might want to consider another field of work. It will be a long time before if ever your CDL will be useful as a job tool. Good luck.

...so you'd just sit there parked on the side of the road after making your pickup, too scared to move even though you don't see anyone coming, just because it is a known "bad intersection"?
#### happens. No need to get all sanctimonious over it, because you aren't the perfect driver either. EVERYBODY makes mistakes, and EVERYBODY is going to die someday.
...and if you're 80,000 pounds and "can't stop", you shouldn't be on the road either.
No kidding? Gee, Bulldog, I wish I was as smart as you. You're so smart you've figured out how to stop a loaded truck and trailer in less than 300-400 feet? Wonderful. You should enlighten the rest of us who know how long it takes a loaded rig to stop. As far as sitting on the road scared, is that what you do? I usually look around, make sure it's OK to go even if I have to wait a minute for traffic to clear. I don't need your crap and name calling, not being sanctimonious, and yes, we're all going to die, genius. I do not want to die because of some drivers bad decision, although you're sure welcome to end that way. -
"excellent point,if you can't stop at 80 k then you should'nt be driving." Where are you people getting this "can't stop at 80K" garbage? No loaded rig stops on a dime, you know that. What's your idea of a safe following distance, in that case, 50 feet?

Looks like classic has left the building.Think he was hoping for encouraging advice. When it comes to a life being lost and no remorse it touches a nerve with me.A company I drove for had a driver that killed a 15 yr old boy while he was bringing a trk to me.So ya I have absolutely no compassion for somebody who kills somebody else and acts as if not a big deal.
mje, Marksteven, rockee and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yes, I can stop a loaded truck in less than 300-400 feet. If you can't, you shouldn't be driving one. If you want to know how long it should take to stop a loaded truck, consult a CDL manual...its in there.
And from what the OP has posted, you wouldn't have done anything differently than he did! He looked around, didn't see anything, and proceeded with his turn. He also mentioned that there were several other people in the other vehicle....ALL wearing seat belts....ALL survived relatively unscathed. The 1 person who perished was not strapped in. You don't suppose that had anything to do with the fatality? The law says you are supposed to wear a seat belt in a car. If you choose not to, why should somebody else be held responsible for the EXTRA injuries you receive as a result of your own failure to obey the law? Had the person who died been wearing a seat belt, judging by the fact that everybody else in the car survived the crash, it would be pretty safe to say the crash wouldn't have involved a fatality.Hammer166 Thanks this. -
You were the one who said it...

Personally, i would love to see actual pics of the intersection, The so- called steep hill or as described Roller coaster and accident report. Until then, i see no other posts from the OP so the possibilty of a Troll may come to mind.
rockee Thanks this. -
Makes for some interesting conversation though.......Ghost Ryder and Marksteven Thank this.

So is that what you would say to the victims family? #### happens?pattyj Thanks this.

What the other vehicle was doing is irrelevant. The OP still failed to yield right of way. And if all of us are no different, no trucker would be on the road because all of us would be charged with an at fault accident with a fatality. It's called pay the #### attention.Last edited by a moderator: Mar 2, 2013
