Barring anything obvious like a broken wire, what tests can be run to determine if the problem is the solenoid, wireing, pressure sensor or.....?

What code are you getting? They are known for injector harness issues. The best test for the harness is to disconnect both ends. Jump 12 volts to 1 wire at a time and load test the other end looking for a voltage drop. If you don't have a test lead that can load the circuit, an 1156 light bulb does the trick. You can ohm out the wires, but unless it's really bad or broken, it will show good, even if it's not.

I'm getting code 95. SOUNDS like a harness issue from what my engine diagnostic sheet says, 95 indicates #6 actuator current high, low, or not responding, low oil pressure, or oil pressure voltage high or low.

What we have found is that the plug to the connector on the solenoid gets loose. If you can wiggle it around, change it. They make a new pigtail for that problem.

[FONT=Verdana, Tahoma, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif]Code 95 is for Intake Valve Actuation System Oil Pressure voltage low or high. The most common issue is a failed IVA pressure sensor, located on the right side front of the valve cover base. There is also a solenoid close to it. Check all the plugs and wiring, if nothing is wrong, the next step is to replace the sensor.
