Nice job on breaking the site rules. Name calling and insulting isn't allowed.

I personally have not seen million mile Diptroits. The ones I see are on a hook with a hole the size of your head blown thru the block. Or my friend's that wasn't going to make 700,000 let alone a million.

My current truck has a CAT with well over 800,000 and still going strong. The owner of this company I'm leased to has three friends, each with well over a million original on a CAT. ................................................. And I don't want your cookies, bozo pins or what ever else you are shovelling.

like I posted - we have a few thousnd detroits with over a million miles.

facts are facts - you abuse a motor - and it will not last

95% of our guys have 20 years driving and know how to treat an engine... this aids the longevity of our fleet.

and to play devils advocate - I know of a few cats that had major assembly failures after 400K miles... all depends on outside variables.

Anybody with the smallest sence of humor could tell it was a joke!
It's funny you would consider that an insult considering that you are one of so called bully's of this site and insult others daily. You have insulted me many times in the pas. You have insulted my fathar, you have insulted my political beliefs and you have called me a liar. You get away with it all because you are on the staff. And you can do no wrong.
This website from my understanding is suposed to be for the education of students and the genral public, but the staff has turned it into a highschool click.
A WARNING TO THE REST OF THE STAFF: This website is operated in the public arena, and is subject to fedral law. And under fedral law it is ilegal to SINGLE OUT one person for a violation of rules or guidelines. When there are other violaters of said rules or guidelines.

You are a legend in your own mind dude, :yes2557: you are a riot, thanks for the comedy relief.

Any time you feel welcome you are allowed to point out all the supposed federal laws being broken.
Your post is that of hurt feelings.

Its also funny as hell that you cry about hurt political beliefs when you are doing the same thing. Ever hear of pot and kettle?

I am calling you out on all of your accusations. Post the proof other wise you are guilt of federal laws relating to slander and libel.

IF I THROW A STICK AT YOU, WILL YOU LEAVE?
I'm done debating you, no body can ever have the last word with you. So it's useless. I am sorry that callling you insane because of your unedgucated remarks of detroit engines caused you to get your panties in a bunch. I am soo sorry,And next time i will take sensitivitive nature into consideration!

Ps. I would not be soo quick to ask for proof of the remarks that i claimend you said. If i were you i would browes the political fourms from about a year and half ago to see what you said... I'll give you a hint, it started with you calling me a commie.

A sure sign of no proof of what you are claiming about me. As you might have noticed before now mods are not infallible. We serve at the pleasure of the site owner. If he deems we are breaking the rules we can be canned too.
You have been taking lessons from the Hillary campaign book. Throw mud at your opponents but never provide any proof.

    blah blah blah blah

All I was doing was posting my personal experiences with Detroits. It seems to be OK for YOU to post your personal experiences but not for me.
I got it, typical Democrat double standard view of the world.

why dont you guys take your arguement to personal mail - and get back on topic...

Brickman, you are about as sharp tongued as anyone here - it is not really fair to call someone out after you have been slighting Detroits.

The issue is keeping on topic - not arguing who makes a better engine or reducing ones opinions down to my dog is better than your dog.

    :biggrin_25511:

Now - the wearable parts on a diesel are the sleaves and bearings pistons and rings and mechanical secondaries suck as injecotors and pumps (fuel/water/oil) and lest we forget the valvetrain.

ANY manufacturer today makes engines as a whole unit that are capable of running 500K without any adjustments needed. The new cummins are not due for anything other than oil changes 'till 500K and detroits s/60's VM4's are listed at 400K - new cats and mercedes still list standard overhead intervals - as do volvo's - but the main thing is that the BLOCKS will pretty buch last forever save from any catastrophic failure like a broken crank or side skirt blowout.

on record more cats are owned by O/O's who tend to keep the trucks longer - so more guys are with cats are vocal about how long they "last"
on the other hand those of us with fleet experience know that companies that do not trade off or lease trucks every 3 years see the same mileage out of other brands... \

as I have posted earlier - a lot of our trucks (detroits) have WELL over 1 million miles - I drove one last week with well over 3 million on it...

Roadway has some of the oldest trucks on the road - when our linehaul tractors age past the nickle and dime state - they are moved to city duty (usually about 1.8 - 2 million miles.

we have a cab over yard truck in bowling green KY with over 4 million miles on it - ORIGINAL block - been rebuilt 4 or 5 times...

one key to our longevity is the fact that most of our power units utilize a total loss oil system - we have a line that runs from the pressure gallery on the passenger side of the block to a filter - and then a dripper into the fuel tank... we leave in the morning full of oil and return at night needing about a gallon or so - our trucks never NEVER get oil changes!

we keep adding clean oil daily - and change the filters regular...

(no crap - I have had to show guys this system at truckstops afetr they did not believe it...)

anyway - on a regular truck nothing can be sid enough about having fresh oil - that is the key.

I've never "run" a Detroit, but I know that system works on Cummins. I've gotten a million + twice before overhaul. The third truck [an old Big Cam IV] only got 997,000 before overhaul. But that engine wasn't blown. The overhaul was preplanned. It was "under a load" just minutes prior to pulling into the shop. Good points.
