i sure do miss my weekends though, once i get enough senoirty i will be able to get them back. Another rough day... only 314 miles. did the rail yard, omw back i get pulled over because the tractor tail lights went out( of course the pig was missing more lights then he working on his car) Then I went to Chesire, Ct, went with a van and tandem tractor. tractor was a little screwy going there. once I got there I was going to pick up the set and of course the tractors fifth wheel slider breaks. SO i had to swap trucks with another road unit there (good thing otherwise Id have to take back a peddle truck) That truck was pretty good I have to say. Some of these trucks are real dogs. Hate to say it and not picking sides ut it seems the roadway tractors pull better than the yellow ones.

@dump truckin youll be fine. if they have you hook a set make sure to double/triple check it all. Its a little easier turning then a 53 footer, but you cant back up

They made some changes when I was laid off. They have been calling me in as soon as I have 8 hours off. Running 500+ miles up and down that miserable I-5 freeway. 55 mph all the way too. Every truck stop filled to the max. I have been getting junk equipment too. Putting in over 15 hour days, hooking and breaking sets, doing lots of vias. I shouldn't be complaining but I'm burned out already. Getting my restart now. Teamsters are hanging out in the parking lots here and there has been a lot of talk about 3 of our yards down here voting them in. If that happens I fear all the YRC guys will come over and take away our seniority. I could see voting the union in if it was still master freight agreement but it's some stupid paper contract with a teamster 401k! Right now I have bcbs 90/10 health ins for my whole family and it is all paid for by the company. That will be gone.

If we vote the union in I would hope it would be run more like Yellow did it. Sets are hooked and ready to go and then they unhook them too unless at a dark terminal. It takes up a lot of time when I have to do this with all these trucks going by in this tight yard. We have been so busy it's every man for himself right now. Yard guys don't have time to hook and unhook sets like they were before. LOL, I'm just lazy I guess.

ACH, glad to see you're working again.

I know this isn't a union board but just wanted to know if the YRC drivers, meaning Yellow/Roadway, are still in the master freight agreement? I don't believe any of the union Reddaway terminals are. In other words, do you guys still get that kick butt company paid pension that I was getting in 2007 at Yellow?

Also if Reddaway votes in the union I will still have to hook and unhook my sets. They have to at the one union Reddaway yard down here.

First of all I'm glad your back working again. Second, as Teamsters we do not honor the "34 hour restart". If you someday become a fellow Teamster you will not be forced to do this instead you will have a healthy balance and home time. If YRC wants to merge all of the companies together including Reddaway it will do so. It doesn't matter if you guys are in the Union or not. The company and the Union will work out a deal that's fair for everyone before that happens. The only reason they have been paying for your healthcare is because they also pay for ours and that's just simply a little carrot they dangle in front of you guys to prevent you from joining the Union and finally having a contract.

Yellow Freight no longer exists. If you do join the Union the work rules will be laid out in the contract as all Union members have.

We are still in the N.M.F.A. However we are currently under a "Memo of Understanding" (MOU). This will end in 2015. In this MOU we are under a 15% wage freeze and a 75% pension freeze.
