After leaving Werner last year, I took a break to spend some time with the kids. After a while, I decided to get back on the road, and applied to Prime.
They took about a week to decide to pick me up, and told me that I had to co-drive for 15,000 miles due to the break I took before I get to go back solo.
During the retraining period, I will be making $600 a week, followed by 41cpm once going solo.
The recruiter was friendly, if a little busy and slow to respond, but she got me all set up to get on my way. I leave tonight on a greyhound, and will be at their main terminal tomorrow afternoon.
I intend to put in my experiences as they happen, as a courtesy to others thinking about the company.

hal380 Thanks this.

The 41cpm, as I understand it, is due to experience, but I could be mistaken.

I hate greyhound. Some jagoff is smoking weed on the smegging bus.

hal380 Thanks this.

Well, whatever the reason, it's more than Werner paid.

I think they pay so high because if those trucks were any slower, they'd be going backward.

Arrived last night, shuttle was waiting outside when the bus arrived. Hotel is all Prime employees, and they provide decent food at their on site cafeteria.
Lot of paperwork to do after a long bus ride. Orientation starts bright and early, and it is all pretty streamlined, although the number of applicants makes it slow going.
More to come later.
