After sitting all day looking for loads to get me out of Spokane, I pulled the trigger on one pick at 7am tomorrow, one drop in Mass Thursday or Friday. Van load, weighs 45K, 2750 total miles at a rate of $5200.00. Works out to $1.89/mi all miles.

On a load with that many miles you probably could have done much worse. For what it is not bad at all considering loads with similar miles that I see around here seem to disappear at $1.15-$1.30 like there's no tomorrow... ...it's just extremely difficult to compete with megas and rails as a solo dry van small outfit truck in longhaul.. Personally I would have tried to work some shorthaul options but again having no idea what that situation is up there, well, possibly even thatwould not be a workable option. Have to wonder about nursury loads or anything of that sort up that way?? I dunno just a stab in the dark.. ..never been there in 13 years of trucking and never will. Just go to Mass and don't look back, and probably don't ever go back to Spokane again lol...

Frankly windsmith I am surprised to hear you asking this :biggrin_255:. You did a post once showing that you are quite up on costs per mile v.s. rev per mile. Based on the numbers you gave, it looks ok to me. That time you gave 1.64 as an annual average per mile, this beats it by .25 plus it gets you sort of close to home. Doesn't look like a screw up to me.

Ya, I spent all day looking at short hops and loads within a 300 mile radius, even LTL. None paid as good as this one. I had the broker on the phone within 30 seconds of it hitting the board.

Brings my average cpm for the year down from $2.16 down to $2.13 overall. But my average before the load that brought me here was $2.09, so it's a net gain of $0.04 for the annual average on the round trip. And I figured MA freight was no worse than where I am now. Heck, it's probably a little better if that's even possible.

Wow, RC - answering your post made me actually look at the numbers closely, and I think I'm liking what I see. I was worried that I pulled the trigger too fast and left something on the table though.
