i guess it's all about what WORKS for YOU. If you can tolerate mismanagement, lack of professional communication, and always having some type of issue then go ahead, settle for less than you know you're worth. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/knight/195989-my-journey-with-knight.html is my personal journey with them. you'll see in a matter of 3months how it went from great,to okay, to Unemployment/ jacked-up DAC report they'll blame you for their mismanagement so that their performance isn't challenged. the bad part about it is, the people know it, that's what you experienced in your random act of inquiring within.

Wow. What the ####'s with these companies??? The one's who are always the worst according to drivers, seem to LIKE (?) their reputation. if you wanted to get AND RETAIN good drivers, don't you think you would set out to correct that??? Some of these companies are REALLY discouraging. MAN, I hope I can keep from having to go to one of these "driver mills" !!! YIKES!!!

unfortunately most of these companies are getting rly bad about things anymore. its a employers world right now and they dont care they can get a new person in 5min and we have to play the dog eat dog politics. they want to fleece new drivers and treat older drivers like ####. sad part is some of the drivers themselves are to blame by giving everyone a bad name and so do the companies. its not all the drivers just a few bad apples and just like with knight's terminals they are not all that bad either. its sad to say but things are going down the tubes and if you want to get into a good company i suggest you follow your gut and do a lot of research and not just all on this website either where most of it is opinions. go to an actual website that'll give you information not just opinions

@frog2011 some of us guys didn't know about this site or any other site before even considering trucking as an option, but i will say this....from the outside looking in, i was very hopeful and sure that this industry couldn't be like the rest but i was wrong.... this industry is just your typical 9-5 with extra leisure...ttoo much leisure in some peoples cases. with my exp with knight, it was an eye opener to one of many things...YOU ARE -A NUMBER!!! this is a business!!! if you can play the butt-kisser or do-(female dog) for awhile then you may have very well planted your feet somewhere... but if you have any type of integrity or self-respect, you may find yourself on the unemployment line like me and many others because you spoke up for yourself, or because you refused to be belittled... one thing that ill always implement is that as well as drivers...we are human beings... we all put our pants on the same way in the start of a day, do not let ones position intimidate you into settling for less... i think if i rallied up all of the knight drivers who'd been mistreated or fired, and banished that we'd actually have a CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT the only problem is, there are not enough mistreated people who give a ####...most just move on to the next...but this is one man's lively hood, means of support for a struggling family... management should have someone to answer to as well... and which is my only priority, I"LL REPEAT!!! DO NOT!!! ACCEPT UNPROFESSIONAL,MEDIOCRE, INCOMPETENT mismanagement and then to be blamed, and dishonored by others due to someone's lack of consistent verifiable professional efforts to excel in their department of expertise

I have been holding back but here is my Knight story. I was with them on the reefer side, was out 47 days with no home time while my wife battled Breast Cancer. I had to quit, leave my truck in thier yard(300 miles from home) and rent a car to get home. Three days later I was hired by Knight Dry Van side, had to do a new drug test(waste of thier money), new road test ( dumb I delivered thier load just a week before) and sat thru orientation again. Got a some what okay dispatcher and out of the gate, got 2800 miles a week for three months. Then the New Year came, 1800 miles a week, runs only averaging 300 miles and left sitting 18-36 hours waiting for loads. Averaged $85 a day to be away from home. Told my dispactcher things needed to change or I would have to leave, his repsonse? 'Well you wated two days this week while you were sick, and you request too much home time (Remember the above?). I responded so when your sick do you have to stay in the truck, NO you get to go home and sleep in your own bed! He said: 'Well you chose that profession, I chose this one and we are on two diffierent levels!" Really 'Jack@**?" I was 300 miles from home, told him to route me to closest yard and I wanted to take some time off, He sent me a QC Message that said, Bobtail to yard, empty and park truck!!!!!, I said thanks, took my stuff rented a car and have never been happier. The END,
Morale of the story and yours: YES THEY TREAT YOU LIKE CRAP, YES THEY ARE DONKEYS, YEA I DISLIKE THEM,AND WOULDNT RECOMMEND MY ENEMY TO WORK THERE, BUT I QUIT AND HAD THEM ROUTE ME SO I COULD LEAVE THE TRUCK IN A SECURE YARD, YOU SIR ARE #### LUCKY THEY DIDNT STICK YOU WITH 'UNAUTHORIZED USE AND PUT IT ON YOUR DAC!" MY ADVICE, IF YOUR STAYING IN THE BUSINESS, GET A JOB NOW BEFORE YOU CONTINUE TO RANT YOUR SELF INTO A 'NEW DAC REPORT' THAT SHOWS YOUR DID AS I STATED.

That being said, I agree with your stance, but like I said, move on or get out before you get banned for being a WHISTLEBLOWER! AND BTW, WELCOME TO TRUCKING!
