Well been on the road since Saturday with a great instructor. Things are going well. I am not going to lie.. Downshifting and I do not seem to get along. Despite my instructors best multiple ways trying get me to learn. I know the steps. I just can't get things to happen like try should.. There was one point today I felt should call it quits after we finish the load tmw. However, tmw is a new day and I will try again. I have never quit anything and not about to now :)

On another note. Home sickness was a lil strong today but, a quick phone call and I'm all better.

You will get it and when you do it will just click. When I went threw school years ago my instructor told me it was all timing, which it is. Hang in there you will get it. Enjoying keeping up with your thread.

If you've driven a manual transmission on a 4-wheeler in the past, you may be pushing the clutch in too far when you shift. If thats the case it's possible you're engaging the clutch brake enough to slow the engine some when downshifting. That'll muck up the works!

Today started off pretty slow. We got to the 02 yesterday around 1700 for 0400 appointment. They got us unloaded this morning and we were on our way to our fuel stop. After fueling and a quick breakfast my instructor asked if I wanted to drive in these hills/mountains headed to Dubois.. So I said sure. Ill admit I was nervous. However, after the first downshift was successful, and the next and so on were. I really felt better... I am getting there. One day at a time..
