hey guys,
Apologize for the length of the letter, but maybe somebody can enlighten me as to why am I not eligible for werner employment? Yes, i applied to werner's dollar general dedicated. I know all that goes with it since I ve already worked for werner, pulled and unloaded Dollar General trailers out of south boston, va in 2006. So a couple of months ago I reapplied and was pre qualified. Recruiters called me and told me that I am eligible for rehire I just need to send in info about the time when I was an O/O so I would not have to team drive a hundred and something hrs but only maybe 70. My circumstances changed and I did not proceed with the application until a week ago. I called them again and said I am ready to commit. They said my app expired I need to reapply, so I did. Lo and behold, when I called them to check on my status they said it was rejected. I said check the app which was sent in January. Recruiter says that one was also rejected. I said how is that possible when you guys called me and said I was qualified for rehire. He said all he knew was that my app was rejected and I should get in touch with so and so to find out why this happened. I know that i will receive a lot of brow beating(i.e ####) from my fellow drivers who think that I m fool enough to want to work for werner let alone being sad that they turned me down, but I really liked working there 7 years ago. I like physical work and the dispatch team was awesome( still the same people, I called them a few days ago). SO what i do not understand is that here is an idiot who wants to work on the most labor intensive account, has 3 yrs experience, no tickets, no traffic violations, nothing that would cause a large carrier like werner to find a problem yet I get rejected. Could this be because I did not follow up the last time with the application.? would they be this vindictive? anyone?
Not good enough for Werner?wtf

Maybe Werner thinks you're insane for wanting to return.
Living in NC, you have some good opportunities in trucking.pattyj Thanks this. -
The only thing I ever hear about Werner is REDICULOUS TERMINATION. One of my buddies got let go because of a "deep investigation" they did on his driving record, and fired him over a ticket that was 5 years old.

wow...you should send them a thank you card......
kerosene jockey, RAGE 18, Marky84 and 2 others Thank this. -
It's possible that they feel you are overqualified. The caliber of driver that I see in their trucks these days is the type of driver that slows to 30mph on the Interstate when the road is wet, it's 33 degrees out, and there are snow flurries about.
They probably figure that you'll jump ship within a few months because of what you won't be earning with them. -
Your better off... I drove for them in 07 and more or less I got screwed. Take this as a sign... Werner is nothing but a joke of a training company that's all.

LOL, I love all the answers... I actually applied for EPES and they actually called me back and want me to be with them. it would be quite a change from werner methinks. by the way thx for all the responses in such short time. anyway, any input on EPES?I also applied for carolina tank lines from burlington ,nc and averitt for regional runs. I doubt that carolina tank lines will hire me but they were very nice at the interview. I will keep it posted which company was lucky enough to grace them with my presence hahaha.
thx guyskerosene jockey Thanks this. -
Is it maybe because a gap in employment, maybe im not reading correctly but you said you liked working there in 2007, and then that you have 3 years exp.. 2007 is 6 years ago
SuperLiner Thanks this.
