Profiling is a way of life,,,meaning it is the first sense a human uses to "scope" or get a sense of, another human,,hell even animals for that matter. I cant stand the ones that complain about profiliing,,it is a way of life...period. You don't want to fit a certain "profile" than don't act, dress or be around that "certain" profile...HOOAH!

The stereotype is derived from experience, the sum total of the viewer's experiences have led the viewer to the conclusion, a belief, that there is a high probability that the subject who is under observation by the viewer, fits the viewer's preconceived notion.
Now, in my above sentence, is the belief unfounded, or well founded?
The answer is, it depends....
Ok, depends on what??
The amount of experience.
It's why they, stereotypes, exist. The stereotype is a reality based value judgment based upon experience.
Potential creditors make value judgments based upon credit scores.... -
Hi, bbblotliz. Here's an easy one to illustrate why stereotypes are real, value based judgments.... and also why they're unfair.
I have a large car, a big pretty truck with an extended hood that stands out as being an o/o'er rig.....
I have had more random roadside DOT inspections, (5), in the three years of owning that truck than I ever had in 14 years as a company driver in a fleet truck, (0).
Am I being profiled when this happens??
Absolutely.
Is it merited or unmerited??
In my opinion it's unmerited as I run legal.
In the opinion of the officer, it's merited and based upon the profile that I fit within, the stereotype... he, or she, has determined that I'm a prime candidate for having a logbook infraction.....
Now, the question is.....
How did the officer come to the conclusion, the predetermined opinion, that I should be the one inspected?Last edited: Mar 8, 2013

I agree with you on your above scenerio TREES... I understand a scenerio like; a DOT officer sees a truck with a dash full of paperwork, dirty like it hasn't been washed in a year and says to himself; "self, I bet that driver has something worth looking at".
