Hello guys. I have a 1997 peterbilt 379 with a ten speed. I would like to swap in a 13 speed or 18 speed. Will the new tranny bolt up or will there be fabrication that needs to be done. If it does bolt up how do i know which transmission to get RTLO???? etc .

Thanks for the input guys im ready to throw this 10 speed in the trash im not a big fan.

    Thanks

the only thing i can think of is you will have to cut the drive shaft to fit.

Yep , 3 " and new air lines and a new shift handle. You'll need to know the HP and torque of your engine to match the tranny too. This will effect what you buy.

Look at the tag on your 10 speed. Should read like RTLO 16610 B etc. The 16 or first 2 numbers are the torque rating of the tranny.

One more thing, very few rebuilders are going to want to swap a 10 for a 13 -15-18 speed even with cash. Those trannys draw top dollar.

    Good luck
