I tried to call Marsha 4 times yesterday. Then I read this. Sounds like maybe she had the week off for vacation. I hope.

Finally got from Florida back to KC to unload and get the truck to the shop for the tire issue, dash light problem, and check engine light for EGR delta pressure which came on in Graniteville and derated the engine for the whole trip. Since the original deliv appt time got changed from 3-7 @ 0600 to 3-8 @ 0600 and I picked up on 3-4, I decided to go ahead and go through the house and get the truck cleaned out and turn it in. Nothing personal towards ACT or any folks there, but it just wasn't working for me from several angles so I gave it up. Am I disappointed ? sure, I think anyone would be. Am I mad and anyone personally, or have any animosity ? No, not at all. I made the decision to try it. Different strokes for different folks as they say. Guess I didn't want my own truck that bad after all, but I just couldn't get to liking the t660 with the space constraints, traction issues, etc. along with other things and felt it best to go ahead and move on.
Bill, this is the reason I didn't say one way or the other when we spoke in FL. As you can see, some are making it work for them, and others have decided not to pursue it in other threads. It's not for me to tell you "Yeah it's great, do it" or "No it sucks, stay away". I prefer to stay away from the he said she said type of thing if possible and not put myself in a position to possibly mislead others. As I said, if you are still considering it, you have my number and I'll be glad to send you settlement reports, accounting reports, etc. and let that be your guide rather than my words. Nothing else for me to say here other than it didn't work out for me. Not good, not bad, it just didn't work .. simple as that. Good luck guys and gals. Be safe. -

Since you can't stick to one thread and decided to post in a couple different ones... I'll just copy and paste my answer from the other one.
ACT is a great company to work for - that being said, they only want the best drivers driving and representing the company. You must have had something on you Mvr or criminal background. Glad you found somewhere you're happy at. Good luck and happy trucking. 😉
By the way, Act has 24/7 support for drivers. Also, if you have any questions about the company or lease program, feel free to PM me.
Hoooooaaaahhhhhhh ! -
I tried to call a few times too, then I got some emails from twig. I think I'll pass on this one and stay where I am for now.
twig Thanks this. -
Maybe it's the Lease Purchase side that kinda stinks, but I'm a company driver, and everything seems to me going really well... I wish twig the best of luck... Really good guy
twig Thanks this. -
I don't really think its the lease side either... I've been here for a year now and seen some people come and go - I think people come in with the "company driver" mentality into the lease and think they can do it the same. It's about time and money management. Drivers start making good $$ and after a couple months they start going home every weekend (home time is up to you) and then they fall behind. If you can run 7-10 days and then take home time you should be fine. We run such a small area that most of the time you'll probably get to go thru your house and spend the night with the load anyways.
Before taking home time, you have to preplan your money so you don't fall behind. Vacations, any time off and winter months have to be preplanned. Summer as in any trucking company, you'll make more and winter it'll slow down a bit. If you plan and save your money and vacations right you'll be fine.
But too many people think it's easy to own a truck and just jump into it and think someone will just let them drive like a company driver and then give them a truck after a few years.
In my opinion, after looking at many companies and doing about four months of research, this is one of the best and few companies that you can actually make a great paycheck and after a few years own a good truck.
PM with any questions...
By the way, Gooooood Morning! The Specialist and Bigdubber Thank this.
