I have a question/issue...Okay I received my recruitment paperwork from Stevens and I really want to go. Howeverf there is one issue. Three years ago I had brain surgery to remove a benign brain tumor. I have absolutely NO side effects. However I do have a gigantic scar on my head that doctors always ask me about. Currently I have a valid DOT certificate for my job. When I met witht he doctor he asked ablut the scar and I told him about the surgery and he shrugged it off and signed my DOT certificate. My issue is this...I am afraid that if I got to all of the trouble to travel across the country (I live in SC) to go to school at Stevens and I get there and then the doctor asks me about my scar he will send me home. Any advise or suggestions??

Thank you. I really appreciate it. I will make an appointment with my neurologist and get a letter from him. Thanks again.

I had abdominal surgery three months before going to Stevens. I brought an Operative Report and a discharge summary from the surgeon and all was good.
Also the Stevens Dr diagnosed me.with HBP so I went to my PCP and he said I do not have it. I brought a note from him to the clinic, they put it in my file and I no longer need the script. They said they are not going to argue with the Dr that knows me best. -
Yeah I am going to go see my own docs before I commit to going. I take BP medication and it keeps my BP within the proper range.

Chiefinman, contact Stevens doctor and find out what he wants you to do for testing. I had a stroke little over 2 years ago and my doc, cardiologist and eye doctor cleared me. I also had 2 other DOT cards. And my recruiter had me do some additional tests but Stevens doc wanted more, well a different version of some of the tests. He did clear me but took a few extra days. Trust me let them know and get what they/he wants. They are self insured so if he believes you are good to go then no issues. Most other places won't touch me for 5 years after stroke because of insurance. So they do have tougher standards but are fairer due to being self insured, provided the doc signs you off. Good luck and enjoy driving.

stvlance, I just got back in my truck after a shower and lunch. Looks like I'll be rolling out about 3 am. After I get unloaded I'll probably head over to oak grove to wait on my next delivery.
